Even a Blind Dog at St. Dunstans could see that Caravan reigns supreme in the Canterbury Scene, where the one-eyed man is king In the Land of Pink and Grey. If I Could Do It All Over Again I would have bought Caravan's albums back in the 1970's when they were first released, instead of buying them Back to Front starting with the cunningly titled Cunning Stunts album in 2010. This classic album is Better by Far for me than the overrated Waterloo Lily album, but that's just my opinion. I'm going to take a pregnant pause now to consider how Caravan came up with The Album title, For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night.  Here's your chance to help determine the Top 7 Caravan albums of all time. Hi, My choices are very different ... the one album that I come back to the most of all is "For Girls..." and then "Caravan and the New Sinfonia", in my book one of the best orchestrated albums EVER done. For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night Caravan and the New Sinfonia Cunning Stunts Better by Far Blind Dog at St. Dunstans The early stuff is nice, and hearing the original "For Richard" is nice, but not as nice as what they did with it later. The later albums I have not gotten as yet, and can't really comment, but listening to their first two albums is ... kind of a trip to the era of pop music in England.

That's okay. I would have struggled to choose seven albums too, until I listened to all of Caravan's albums last weekend. If I Could Do It All Over Again though, I would have listened to all of Caravan's albums years ago.

Better by Far (1977) I know they are not included as they are not officially new released tracks on a new studio album, I particularly like the compilation albums All Over You and All Over You Too. I normally dislike compilation albums but these 2 were different as they were well produced new versions of some of their earlier songs. If I had not been into Caravan I may have thought, wow! they are amazing! Caravan as a band in all their incarnations are in my top 10 any day of the week. ------------- I'm sorry, if you were right, I'd agree with you. Robin Williams. |

Simply because I don't like Waterloo Lily as much as their 4 & 5 star albums, but it's still a good album.

At least I haven't been overly-generous with my ratings for Caravan - I only gave one album a 5-star rating, and on a positive note, Waterloo Lily is my favourite 3-star album.
