Miles Smiles all the way. Arguably where he started getting a bit more fusion-y and experimental.

No way around Revolver... though I love Sounds of Silence.

Four of those albums are in the realm of genius (though not prog) - Pet Sounds, Blonde on Blonde, Face to Face and Revolver (and if you included Bookends you have five) - and you can argue about the others.

Am I voting Beatles? I'm surprising myself.

There are so many great albums there, but eventually I’ve decided my vote goes for Sounds of Silence. As per my post about top pre-teen musical influences, S&G were easily one of the greatest. This second album of theirs is just amazing, and possibly my favourite of theirs.

Can't decide between Revolver and Pet Sounds, especially as they were part of a sequence where Brian Wilson and Lennon/McCartney were driving each other to new heights with each offering until Smile fell apart at the seams.

This may well be the first time that we have both voted for the same thing! 😄

This is hard. PSR&T was the first album I ever bought, but over the centuries I've probably listened to Revolver the most of these.

Zappa.
Although I like so many of these albums.
'Sloop John B' alone nearly made me choose Pet Sounds.

Revolver, easy.
Is Roger the Engineer related to the legendary Roger the Cabin Boy from Captain Pugwash?

If the Yardbirds were not successfully sued for libel, probably not. 😜

Great year. My vote was for Revolver, but I also love Blonde on Blonde, Pet Sounds and Freak Out.
A Quick One I think is one of the weakest Who albums. Aftermath by the Rolling Stones is another great album of that year.

Going with Simon & Garfunkel here (Sounds of Silence). I think I even really appreciate it more than Revolver, overall... Could have chosen Coltrane too, though.
