RAC #2 goes way back - to 1974! Very hard choice in this one... but Gong is what I vote for!

Ah, this is more like it. I actually know ten of these albums and my vote goes predictably to Rick Wakeman again.

Gosh, this is just a toss up, because normally I wouldn't want to choose between Gong, KC, Hawkwind, PFM and Zappa - love all those albums... Go with Hall of the Mountain Grill, because...

And I presume you are not the only one feeling that way, as the 70s RACs have always had the highest response rates!

Some good albums here but to me PFM is the best of these.

Burn edges out Stormbringer - but stylish classic rock on both of them, with a soulful feel from the Mk 3 line-up.

I can select from a number of these depending on mood and time of day, and this morning feels like Burn!

I'm surprised to see PFM currently leading, seeing as that's one of the few albums I haven't heard of in this poll. I feel like I'm missing out on something by not having listened to any of PFM's albums. Embarrassed

Hatfield from this lot but could have as easily voted for Gong, Hawkwind, Tangerine Dream, King Crimson, Magma.

I could vote for either "Hawkwind - 'Hall of the Mountain Grill'" or "Hatfield and the North - S/T", but decided to vote for "Hawkwind - 'Hall of the Mountain Grill'".

Well, it's PFM and Purple right now, with Gong and Crimson closely behind... Anything could happen! But PFM's early material is great for sure. Smile

Different from some others I don't find this selection that strong, several bands I love are there with albums that are inferior to others published around that time, too (i.e. LTIA & Red> SatBB, Rubycon & Zeit>Phaedra, Passion Play & Ministrel>War Child, MDK & Udu Wudu > Kohntarkosz), and top albums are missing, not even the most obvious ones (Rock Bottom, Soon Over Babaluma, Caution Radiation Area).

Ultimately it's still between King Crimson and Tangerine Dream, and I'll give it to Phaedra, which is a key milestone with their way of using sequencers appearing for the first time, and a pretty good album, despite me enjoying those around it more.

Once again a 70s RAC where every band has got at least 1 vote; Interesting results but SABB's surprising (for me) domination will quite likely remain as it is.
