I was wondering what everyone's favorite track n this album by Caravan is. My favorite side A track is Winter Wine. My favorite track right now is Nine Feet Underground.

Nine Feet Underground, for sure.

Hm, this is difficult. As easy as it would be to vote for Nine Feet Underground, I see four great reasons not to vote for Nine Feet Underground!

1. Golf Girl - an absolutely charming introduction to the album, with that absolutely smiley trombone! It really does feel like a lost Beatles song from Magical Mystery Tour.

2. Winter Wine - Just a lovely extended number, with great melodies and beautiful atmospherics.

3. Love To Love You - where in the book of prog does it say you must hate pop? I love this song! It's perfectly bouncy pop of the catchiest kind, and with a prog band's instrumental prowess!

4. In The Land Of Grey And Pink - like Winter Wine, another great proggier short piece, with lots of great melody everywhere.

I think... I think it's the title track for me. Though I desperately hope someone goes out of their way to vote for Love To Love You.

Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)

In the Land of Grey and Pink for its eloquent Sinclair keyboards.

In The Land of Grey and Pink is my favorite from this album. Golf Girl and Winter Wine are also great songs.

Well there is some stuff from the 80s that I think is either tedious or plain bad. Examples include "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds which I find boring and "Come On Eileen" by Dexys Midnight Runners, which has my least favorite synth riff. Then there is Michael Jackson, who makes me happy to hear him at times, and also some of the Talking Heads stuff is pretty good on the radio as well.

Don't You Forget About Me is pretty boring, I'll agree. I love Come On Eileen Though, such a fun song to try to sing along to (I just can't quite imitate the guy's voice, somewhere between a whine and a warble at all times). MJ is golden. Talking Heads' hits are also fab. But pop is more than what happened in the 80s!

I’m pretty sure Dexy’s Midnight Runners have never included a synth on any of their songs. I saw them in 82 in London on the Too Rye Aye tour (the lp from which Come on Eileen - whose riff was played on violin - originates) and there were certainly no synths on stage - in fact it was against the band’s ethos

Winter Wine is pure hippy magic...I love 9 feet underground but connecting the dots on such a long piece is a lot of work, and I also love the title cut.  The two poppy tracks are both very good.  ie it's a 5 star album

9' Underground, with Winter Wine as a good second.

It’s such a good album, it’s hard to pick one over the other. They all work together quite well, to make such a great listening experience.

"Love to Love You" got no love.  Love to Love You Caravan. Love to Love You Land of Grey and Pink Album. Love to Love You Sinclair cousins, Hastings bros, and Coughlan. Love to Love You for Joining Camel Richard. Hate to Hate seeing that this lineup does not last after the end of this album.

This track has not gotten any votes yet. Poor little guy. Maybe it would win if we paired it up against every track from "The Album" by Caravan. What kind of name is that?

Seems to be an unpopular opinion, but love to love you and golf girl are my favorite tracks on the album. The title track is another one of my favorites from the album. I gave my vote to Love to Love you since it didn't have any votes.

I was going to say that, the whole point of this incarnation of Dexys was it was a kind of country "yokel" band (for want of a better word) which was all fiddles and banjos. Completely synth- less.

I like Love to Love You as well, might give it another vote as it's obvious Nine Feet will win.

It sort of sucks that a bands biggest hit is usually something lame. Caravan never had any hits, not even "The Album"? had any hits. An example is that Asia is a prog supergroup yet their biggest hit is something lame such as "Heat of the Moment". Also, tell me this is not the laziest looking album ever. The Album (Caravan album) - Wikipedia

This is "Thee Album"

CARAVAN - In the Land of Grey & Pink: Limited - Amazon.com Music

I never heard the Caravan album "The Album" and I never will! I heard "In The Land of Grey and Pink" and it was fantastic. Winter Wine is fantastic and Golf Girl is a fun song to hear. The big highlight is that suite man. "The Album" seems to have nothing while "Thee Album" has ev'rything .

I would elevate "Nine Feet Underground" more than nine feet overground the others.* That said, I like the whole album and love the title track and "Winter Wine".

* Rather surprised that no one else posted words to this effect, but I don't shy away from cheesy phrasing.

I could have voted for any of the tracks on side one, but went for the title track.
Side one is better than side two.

I cant believe Golf Girl is losing. She is selling cups of tea. If she asks you if you want one asked you with a grin. For thruppence you need to buy one full right to that brim. Well of course you need to have one, in fact you should order three.

Golf Girl was my favorite song when i first listened to the album but then i got over the novelty a bit and changed to Nine Feet Underground and Winter Wine. I will still listen to Golf Girl once in a while and still love it.

I cant really choose as the album is a masterpiece. If my arm is pulled I'd go for winter wine but everything is great.

Track 5.

(Got it borrowed on CD I think from a friend's friend somewhere in late 90's... or was it Waterloo Lilly and then my younger brother got this one? Hmmm...)

Anyway, an honoured mention for "Winter Wine"..  it popped on streaming a while ago after hearing 'Foxlight' by Wobbler and realised it had totally passed me by!

Hi,

Bummer ... no option for the whole album. It would not be CARAVAN without all the different material!
