At the beginning of these polls, it was often very difficult to choose one album above all the others. It’s easy now there are so few to choose from. Opeth, by a long margin. 🖤

Opeth for sure. Watershed was my very first Opeth record I ever heard (I was about 13 or so) and it’s always been one one of my favorites in their discog. You could tell the band were transitioning into their new sound, but the remnants of the sound found on Ghost Reveries were still glorious as usual

Evergrey > Threshold > Symph X

The sheer quality of that Evergrey release after their downward spiral of the previous few albums, was quite a surprise... superb album.

Ayreon - The Theory of Everything. The only album I'm familiar with in the poll, in theory.

I think the DT, Threshold and Opeth are good albums. I go with Opeth's Watershed, as it is more diverse than the other ones.

Strange (to me) to see Ayreon getting quite a few votes here, it's when they went downhill to me.

Voivod!!!!

Phobos it`s Brutal, apocaliptic, atonal, extremely dense riffs that tear you apart with surgical precision by Piggy and his guitars.

Neanderthal rhythms and Sci - Fi sound effects that plague the entire album courtesy of Away and Eric Forrester with the monumental task of replacing two historical members of the band; Snake with his vocals inflections, screams and growls and Blackie in metronomic acrobatics on the bass.

Trying to catalog this work its absurd, thrash metal with post punk, industrial, sci fi, progressive, it sound like a steamroller that does not give you peace.

I think the perfect synthesis regarding this album is desolation, its what remains after being exposed to the world of phobos

One of my all time favourite Metal albums is Disconnected by Fates Warning. "Still Remains" has to be one of their top three songs overall and represents the album's sound very well with the contrast of heaviness and atmosphere. How prophetic would this album cover have looked today if the couple on the cover were wearing the masks we've all had on the last couple of years instead of gas masks.

When you get to the end, are you going to do an extra poll of all the winners from each round??

Disconnected. I like its somewhat dark atmosphere. Maybe because of Kevin Moore's presence.
