Opeth for sure. Watershed was my very first Opeth record I ever heard (I was about 13 or so) and it’s always been one one of my favorites in their discog. Voivod!!!! Phobos it`s Brutal,
apocaliptic, atonal, extremely dense riffs that tear you apart with
surgical precision by Piggy and his guitars. Neanderthal
rhythms and Sci - Fi sound effects that plague the entire album
courtesy of Away and Eric Forrester with the monumental task of
replacing two historical members of the band; Snake with his vocals
inflections, screams and growls and Blackie in metronomic acrobatics on
the bass. Trying to catalog this work its
absurd, thrash metal with post punk, industrial, sci fi, progressive, it
sound like a steamroller that does not give you peace. |

One of my all time favourite Metal albums is Disconnected by Fates Warning. "Still Remains" has to be one of their top three songs overall and represents the album's sound very well with the contrast of heaviness and atmosphere. How prophetic would this album cover have looked today if the couple on the cover were wearing the masks we've all had on the last couple of years instead of gas masks. ------------- "The wind is slowly tearing her apart" "Sad Rain" ANEKDOTEN |
