Roger Waters and Nick Mason took Floyd-related questions a few years back. If you haven't already seen it, it's pretty entertaining. Beer

For some reason I thought Nick was on team Gilmour.

My hunch is that Nick is his own man and navigates the two ego orbits with absolute ease.

That's not always the case with these things though. To give a non prog example Michael Anthony was on team Hagar and not team Alex and Eddie (Van Halen).

For sure. That's why I think it's impressive Nick has pulled it off.

I believe Nick has tried to remain friendly with both, and it seems he's been successful about it. I believe he made his peace with Waters before Live 8, and didn't renew his grudge as Gilmour seems to have done so.

Hi,

I think I would go to the bartender and ask for a drink and have it charged to their tab. At least, then, I might be able to get drunk enough that I might have a laugh at what they said.

I think they were just having fun ... and I have no bones with that ... but I do think that the other big squabble is pathetic in both of their sides. They are both right and wrong, thus making the whole thing very mute and silly and stupid.

That was basically a waste of 19 minutes......and imho is shows that Nick Mason seems like a nice guy and Roger Waters remains a jerk.

HI,

Nick was/is, nice. And the one thing that he is not appreciated for ... the albums he produced are all excellent, not only recorded, but the music in them is very well coordinated for recording, which made things better.

I seem to remember this video lasting well over an hour - if not two - (see the stack of questions) and them two getting plastered and it was sometimes funny.

Nick & Roger met at Architecture school, where they also met Wright (who didn't hang around too long as he changed to music school). Once Dave was in the band, it was a bit the two friendly factions, the Architects Vs The Musicians.
From what I gather, Mason always remained +/- relatively close to Waters, but that relation kept a low profile during the 85/00 era. Mason certainly tried to be not only the archivist, but also the peacer-maker.
