Hi,

CASTAWAY is excellent, and a lot of fun, though it is just him and Amanda Donohoe. And with Nicolas Roeg, you know that you got something really well shot, and it kinda had a few reminders of his 2nd film (WALKABOUT) and in its style and vision.

THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN, is the fun side of things, with Terry Gilliam giving some folks whatever they wanted. Robin Williams also had a free run in that film. But his role in that film as VULCAN is far out and neat, and of course the whole Botticelli thing is fantastic around it. A most enjoyable film, and you don't even think of the performances, but there are many in this film that are ... great!

The Musketeer stuff is just fun and kinda of a continuous fun thing, and Oliver Reed, pretty much provided a lot of the fun stuff in it.

I saw The Adventures of Baron Munchausen in Cairns at a drive-in in 1989. I enjoyed it very much then, and still do. That said, it still is my least favourite of Gilliam's trilogy of imagination, which also includes Time Bandits and Brazil -- I have adored those two films. As a teen/ young man, Brazil and A Clockwork Orange were my favourite films. These days I'd sooner return to Time Bandits regularly.

I've read that Oliver Reed would get drunk and hit on Uma Thurman, who was only 17 during the filming of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen in 1987.

^ I've never seen a Terry Gilliam film that I've enjoyed, maybe because they're just too Pythonesque.

Hi,

Oliver Reed probably did that to more women than we can count. Success or not is another story, as drunk, is not always a good performance, unless your name is Oliver Reed, and you are not doing The Devils.
