Is it just me, or do people seem to be confusing "Cassandra Gemini" with "Maranda the Ghost just isn't holy anymore"? cause... Cassandra Gemini... all 5 tracks... wow all 1 star tracks on my WMP library... not good songs... no, pretentious... bad... noise

edit- I guess I should ask, when you say Cassandra Gemini, do you mean tracks 4,5,6, and 7? or tracks 8,9,10,11, and 12?

I'm not confusing Cassandra Gemini with anything. I refer to the 32-minute concluding track to Frances the Mute. If you don't like it, that's fine. But I find it amazing. It's split into several tracks, but I combined the mp3s on the version I have on the computer, because that's how it's meant to be..

Wow, maybe I'm the one being confused. On my LP, the last 5 tracks entitled "Cassandra Gemini" only equal 18:10 minutes and is some of the most dry jazz I've ever heard(only say jazz becuase thats what people have told me it is, I myself don't know what to call it). You must have a way better release than I do...  inform me!

edit- and Wow, my friends got a whole different CD, on his, the last 3 minutes is the only Cassandra Gemini on the entire album... something is wacked

I've had that problem, tracks 1-4 are Cygnus..., The Widow, L'via L'viaquez and Mirhanda...., track 5 (Tarantism) to 12 (Sarcophagi (sp?)) is all part of Cassandra Gemini, which ways in at about 32 minutes. I dont know why it comes up differently when you copy onto a PC but it does.

Anyway.............

70's Genesis- Suppers Ready
80's Marillion- Grendal (I dont know too much 80's stuffEmbarrassed)
90's Dream Theater- A Change Of Seasons
00's Transatlantic- Alll Of The Above.

Cassandra Gemini begins with the lines "I think I've become one of the others" and everything else that follows is the rest of the song. I added it up it comes out to 32 minutes.

If this clears anything up "Mirinda...." is not broken up into seperate tracks, CG is all 8 of the seperated trcks.

Well, each to his own. You really can't tag Gemini as jazz. Sure it has it's jazz moments, but it represents something different. It's definetly one of Volta's greatest tracks. Why don't you give it some more spins. If you're a volta fan, Cassandra Gemini is pure bliss xD

So... suppose we can be very liberal with the definition of "epic"...

70s:  "Song for America" by Kansas (1975, 10:03)
80s:  "I'm Freaking Out" by The Dixie Dregs (1980, 9:08)
90s:  "Learning to Live" by Dream Theater (1992, 11:30)
00s:  "Second Life Syndrome" by Riverside (2005, 15:40)

I can amend my definition if you guys go all Tom Cruise on me.

This is'nt fair that the 70's has only one epic to choose while TAAB, CTTE, APOLK (VDGG), Suppe's ready, Roundabout, Cheyen anthem, Incomudro, Scheherezade and The battle of glass tears among others have to be mentioned.

90's : Talk talk - Ascension day
00's : Proto-kaw - Nactolos 21 (that's a cheat since it was writen in 72 but published in the 00's)
