I didn't cringe, he's got an inward peace that I've always found calming. If I were playing guitar next to him, THEN I'd be intimidated, but as company he seems cool.

No, Mr Frippertronics doesn't like intimidating to me (that's just because you blow up the photograph), he's more like a monk that's just entered convent! When it comes to intimidating, I'd rather say: Peter Gabriel. I've seen him on stage a couple of times (admittedly, more than twenty years ago) and his whole bearing was so arrogant, it seriously diminished my love for his solo albums!

Yeah, I saw Gabriel for 'So' and his presence seemed odd and affected. It actually detracted from the music which, though marvelous on album, lacked depth live.

I'd say Dave Brock is right up there on the intimidation stakes.

I would actually vote Thomas Haake, the Great Og. Fripp is powerful, but Haake will just kill you because he can.

I reckon John Whetton could kick the sh*t out of someone... Chris Squire in his '90125' days started to look quite intimidating as well. Also i wouldnt fancy my chances if i was up against Holger Czukay, or the rest of Can come to think of it

Bill Bruford and Jon Anderson did one time get into a fist fight just over how Jon talked as pretensiously as Yes' lyrics were. Once again though I cannot explain how powerful and intimidating Thomas Haake is, he is someone that you could try to mess with and he would remain silent. You would get fustrated because you wouldnt get a rise out of him, and then you would return home; only to find that your front yard/entire apartment complex has been laced with dead puppies and kittens and your bedroom has been replaced with a lava pit.

A musician that I would almost not be able to play in front of without feeling like dirt because of how ridiculously good he is, that is intimidating! The man Rick Wakeman

I second Wakeman! Not only is he extremely good at what he does, he's arrogant enough to know it and more. Did anyone see the inside cover to Journey to the Center of the Earth? I'm not totally sure what he was going for there, but whatever it was, it was freaking intimidating...

...for a guy with long blond hair and a powder blue practically-dress on.

I would like to see Robert Fripp and Steve Howe in a dual.  Then we'll see who's the most intimidating.  I say Howe would win. Fripp would just do a lot of fast picking and wha noises.

I saw that tour also, and it was a bit strange. The "Us" show was very different. He was quite joyous.

I would not kick Fish up the a**e unless I had a fast car handy. He's even bigger than me (I'm 6' 1'' and 95Kg!). Good job he's generally good natured but don't forget - he's a Scot and they're always capable of becoming Scottish wildcats.

Fripp is a mere pussycat by comparison.

Ha-ha! I almost feel like stickin' the picture in my sig with that quote, but that might defeat the purpose.

I just saw Fripp on Sunday night. He and Adrian opened for Porcupine Tree. And yeah you guys are right, he scared the crap out of me! He didn't say one word the entire time, didn't acknowledge the audience, and didn't even face us most of the time. There was this dark aura around him that made me want to curl up into a ball and hide.

But my vote goes to Devin Townshend                    Wacko

It isnt size that makes you intimidating, its the kind of music you play.
here.

That is Stengah all alone. Notice how he dosent smile, smiling is for the weak and takes energy that could be used for playing, and killing people.
Not to mention he turned this metal song very funky.

Agreed, though the whole of Magma's line up look pretty intimidating to me. Then there's Alex 'come and have a go if you think you're hard enough, copper!' Lifeson - anybody who beats up mounties in his spare time is about as intimidating as you can get.

I know Man Overboard meant *musically* intimidating but since this thread (unfortunately) has taken a physical turn, I'll say Lemmy when he was a roadie for Keith Emerson in the late 60s.
