Subject: The birthday, the quest...the Lung

To further celebrate the birth of Ian "The Blessed One" Anderson's birthday, I will now finally complete me mission.
This ancient quest began a long time ago when I heard some dumbass motherf**kin' asshole of a radio host insult the greatest song ever "Aqualung." He had just played some crappy Beatles outtakes or something, and then proceeded to tell the listeners what a great buncha people they were, and that "the station guides think you're all just sheep, that we can just play 'Aqualung' twelve times in a row!"
And I immediately thought, "HEY! Aqualung! Twelve times in a row? What a great idea!" Then I regained my senses, and thought, "HEY! Aqualung? That song rocks!" I have since tried to call the station with the intent of insulting the living crap outta that dude, daring him to play the whole of "Thick as a Brick," or, if that's "too metal" for him, he might play "Bungle in the Jungle, I just dare you!"
On the side, I decided to listen to "Aqualung" twelve times in a row on my crappy, falling apart protable CD device. This rarely worked because the batteries would either give out, or I'd loose count, and then I'd wander off, try again in four to six weeks, similar result.
However, not tonight! I just changed the batteries, I'm keeping track...I'm using, as tradition dictates, the olde CD player (even though I gots a more reliable one now) and my Very Best Of CD, since I didn't have Aqualung at the time of the concept's conception.
Happy birthday Ian, this one's for you...and me. And that dumbass at KLOS.

Seven! It's become mantra like; I think Ian designed it to be played over and over again without break.

Well I got
"How safe is Flying" "End Public Speaking Fear" "MS Office Courses" "Natural Social Phobia Med"

but you're right, at some occasions the adds pick up the essence of a conversation.

And it's freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....
(only have to go there a weak earlier and sleep upon where the second row should materialize itself by the time of the concert, no chance of getting that spot in any other way... )

I bow before true knowledge, whereever I see it. I knew Space Ghost ("Spaaaaaaace Ghoooooost!!!!") but never heard of the Cartoon Planet. And thanks for getting me into the Skeletor Show... I owe you that.
Getting back to Tull, do you know where I can find about the regular concert set-list from these days? I wouldn't want to go to that concert prepared to Lung and not be able to even hum to the songs...

used to bring a little sony recorder with an excellent stereo mic that I'd clip onto my jacket.. I'd have to use a lighter to check the tape every so often and scramble to flip it in the middle of a set... ah, the old days

for Tull? Nah.. they put on a great show but nothing really worth preserving.. besides, most bands today don't alter their live arrangements as much anymore or do spontaneous stuff, which is really the great part of, erm, 'private recordings'

Oh yeah, if you like that Skeletor crap, then you'll love Coast to Coast and Cartoon Planet.
Really? I turned you onto that? Huh. There's a personal achievement if I ever heard one!

So I was too broke to attend the Tull concert in Sibiu, as I was planning to... My friend who's been there says it was amazing - performance, sound, playlist, everything. Once he uploads his videos, I'll post the links here.
Two hours full of Tull classics - like the whole first half of Thick as a Brick, and also Bouree, My Sunday Feeling, Mother Goose, "Stairway to Aqualung" (what's that?), My God, Jack in the Green, Locomotive Breath, a Mozart medley, etc. What could I have wanted more?
