Hello. :)

I've been very into music now for a few years, but I've only recently started to delve into Prog. It took a while for me to start to like it because of it's complexity and such. But I love it now from what I've heard. I have most of Pink Floyd's albums, of which my favourites are The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and Animals. I also enjoy Close to the Edge by Yes, it's one of my favourite albums.  In short, here's a list of the Prog or prog related bands I listen to:

  • Pink Floyd
  • Yes
  • Rush
  • Opeth
  • Radiohead
  • Muse
  • The Beatles
  • Queen
  • Godspeed You! Black Emperor
  • Dream Theater

I am looking for new bands to look into, the most obvious ones being King Crimson and Genesis. That's why I signed up and I hope to enjoy my time here. :)

Hey There!
May I recommend the following bands?

Genesis: classic prog, my personal favourites- look out for "Nursery Cryme" and "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway".

King Crimson: Not my cup of tea. There debut album "In The Court Of The Crimson King" is not bad, but most Crimson fans seem to think that and "Red" are the essential albums.

Camel: Another great prog band, check out "The Snow Goose"

PFM: Great Italin prog, some very nice instumental work and great vocals. Try "Chocolate Kings" for starters.

Focus: One of the classic symphonic bands (you may have heard some of their work). Try the album "Moving Waves", many Floyd fans to love it.

That's all I have off the top of my head. If you have any queries or want to find out more, just PM me.
