The two masterpieces of progressive music will now clash in an epic battle only worth that of the battle of Team Edward vs Team Jacob. May the best album win.

They both are terrible, but I'll go with Love Bitch on this one (I can't believe I just voted for that! ).
St. Anger is unlistenable, though. I can't listen to more than 2 minutes of it without being ready to puke!

If you look beyond the cover Love Beach has some great songs. I remember buying St Anger when it came out and returning it the next day.

I can't endorse either album. I'm not a huge ELP guy, though I can listen to them in small doses. Not Love Beach though.
Metallica are one of my favorite bands, and St. Anger and the Black Album (having maybe 3 songs on it I like) are the only two of their albums I can't stand to listen to. I do find the Some Kind Of Monster film entertaining.

Almost nothing EVER can be as bad as St. Anger. Love Beach gets my vote, of course.

I have unfortunately heard Love Beach, and it is truly rubbish. I'm too scared to try St. Anger. So, that is probably a good thing.
No vote.

Love Beach is one of those albums that gets waaaaaaay more flak than it deserves, it's really not half bad. I'd give it a 3, maybe even 3.5 if I reviewed it.
St. Anger is an absolute joke, not a single second of decent music to be found there.

Probably the most nonsensical lyrics I have ever heard. Lil' Wayne ain't got nothing on that sh*t.

Love Beach is terrible degradation with mellow pop-spices. (nothing could be as bad as combination of mellow and commercial.)
St.Anger is not excellent, but really good album.

Love Beach is my choice. Not much of a choice though with the 3 smiling Hawaii Five-O beach boys on the cover. Some of it reminded me of Barry Manilow and company. Very cheesy. The destruction of prog in the late 70's. At least we had Pulsar and Ange because this was pathetic.

St Anger
I used to legit kind of enjoy it, now I love it in a "so bad..." type of thing.
I DO like the sound of the drums , the overall feel and return to metal.
And really how can you not love St Anger it has:
.Offbeat drumming (TOTALLY on purpose and well done)
.Very easy to hear riffs
.Brilliant lyrics (I'm madly in anger with you, my lifestyle determines my death style)
St Anger for sure
YOU FLUSH IT OUT!

I played St. Anger the first time and loved it since there was no sign of Fuel or Re-Fuel or Re-refuelier or The Oneforgivenable part 7 or whatever rehashed obnoxious radia oriented rock they were producing that 3 years it requires to take that kind of dump. I don't listen to SA anymore, but I respect the paradigm shift. It sounds like a tight garage band. The bottom line is, this is a band that is really not that musically talented trying to produce something different to an audience that hates change. "Just play Sandman and Whiskey jaro and get the funk out".

No, this is rather the only time that Love Beach will win anything. Besides stinker of the century.
St Anger is appalling and not even one good track so it should lose this contest.

He was just being funny, obviously. Anyway, as I listen to Love Beach, once again I marvel at the flak the artwork can get for an album. This is not a bad album by any means though it's not great of course nor true to their style. Have you - as in a general 'you', not ACR - heard the album? St Anger on the other hand...
Tapfret: The end of wanting to do something different does not justify the means, or, rather, the product. So, yes, I do prefer the commercially oriented Love Beach to St Anger because regardless of motives, the former is at least somewhat well put together. There's nothing wrong with music made with the aim of commercial success when it's well executed. Now, if you like St Anger for what it is, you are naturally entitled to your preferences.

I don't even like good Metallica but as wretched as Love Beach is, it does have some decent tracks: All I Want is You is a decent pop song with heinous lyrics, The Gambler is an enjoyable boogie, Canario is good fun albeit a tad cheesy and Memoirs of an Officer and a Gentleman is in places quite brilliant with the caveat of the odd pile of lurking poo to negotiate.

Love Beach. Yea, that album jacket is BS, lol, but i agree with people who are saying that LB is not so bad album as it is censured by many. LB is in the same level of Tormato, and miles above better album than And Then There Were Three. Just my opinion, of course.

That's true. Greg Lake had told me all about the egos in ELP. He told me once....."Egos!" "All Egos!" It's funny to me personally but, if I'm not mistaken, at least they had the balls to admit that Love Beach was a bit of a mistake for the band? Fans like us cut the album up for a mere joke and the fun between us is a like a bond of understanding. We still in the same sense find good things about it! It's all about having fun you know? Like making fun of yourself? ELP themselves have done the same thing.

St Anger.
Least there are some decent songs on it, and I always said "Ya know it aint so bad and there's some interesting stuff, if only they raised the guitar, lowered the drums, cut many of the songs down (oh and ya know axe "kill kill kill kill!") itd not be so bad. ^ Sadly it's the last time Palmer sounded like that . The next album he made was the short lived AOR band PM before totally reinventing his style for Asia. There is an expanded version of Love Beach with some interesting demos that still show the band has something. Unfortunately the production is just too watered down and the best not talk about the cover artwork.

The cover art stinks. It's putrid. It shows nothing but three, overly bloated egos. I wish it had a neat cover artwork and a different title - maybe, just maybe, it wouldn't cop the flak that it does. There's some decent music and ideas contained within. I stand by that.
