AC/DC is a great rock and roll band, hard rocking with a great sense of humor.

Even i mean theres nothing to really hate. Even ac/dc admits that all of thier stuff sounds the same. I mean its some solid rock and roll, but I would never tell someone to buy more than one album... and i would never buy any

Yep i can barely tell their songs apart. I just hates band that just finds a winning formula and will never ever try to do something barely new and is just recirculating old riffs. Incredibly boring and as far away as progressive you can get.

Angus Young's guitar playing is totally overrated...but their songs can be cool for the rythmic sessions

Yep i know that but for a person that is used to progressive music it is totally unatractive. I mean britney spears make more original and diffrent songs than ac/dc. ac/dc is as low as it gets. And i dont think they ever know what the word progressive means.

not my favorite band, i only got 2 albums High way to hell and back in black, but as said everything sounds the same, it gets boring for me most of the time, one or two song can be good to lisen to but a whole album is to much for me realy, some variation whuld be nice. But a good hard rock band they where. So i dont think AC/DC suck, if there is one hard rock band i think sucks its Deep Purple, i hate Deep Purple overrated sh*t band they are.

I have that 'If You Want Blood...' live record. Essential party music. Not something to listen to on a sunday afternoon when you're on your own and in the mood to analyse deeper meanings behind the music.

I think any band in the world can make better music than ac/dc angus young uses standard power chords and the same ol blues solos i cant imagine than anyone can find it interesting for a split second

Music doesn't have to be interesting to be likeable...

They ROCK. The phrase "there's always a bigger fish" can be applied to this problem:

"there's always music that is more simple"

So who can define how simple music must be to become uninteresting just because of it's simplicity?

I was once quite into them, but I always did feel that the entire AC/DC catalogue could be summed up quite nicely on two 70 minute CDs ... the first with Bon (including most of Highway To Hell as well as other essentials like Big Balls, Whole Lotta Rosie, She's Got Balls and Ride On) and the second with Brian (including the whole of Back In Black and the few other good songs on the subsequent albums ... I think Thunderstruck is the last AC/DC song I enjoyed) ...

Hell's Bells is my favourite AC/DC song ever ... simple and effective ...

ac/dc is the most braindead band on this very earth. There is no band that is worse in this genre and they have not managed to compile  a single good song.

They're the absolute best in their genre, which is "Braindead Hard Rock". Give me an example for a better band IN THEIR GENRE, I'm really curious

A norwegian band called turbonegro is better but infact i would rather listen to a madonna song before i ever listened to a ac/dc album ever again.

Anyways it is hard to compare these bands because they all sound the same like forexample saxon and accept and thin lizzy they sound exxactly the same and i cant stand any one them.

But anyways why are the ac/dc fans posting here

By the way: Accept is miles away from Saxon. Saxon is miles away from AC/DC. Thin Lizzy is lightyears away from all of the above.

Well i got one saxon cd and one accept cd and i think they sound quite the same its all about cool riff rock and roll wich is a genre i despise. But anyway if you like that kind of genre i will perhaps advice ac/dc as they are the best blues based hard rock band on earth.( Hate to admit that) Got three albums back in black, highway to hell and razors edge + a dvd called live at donigton 91 wich is IMO the best ac/dc collection.

Anyways when i say i hate a band i always get people that like it in my thread and when i say i like a band i always get people that hate it to answer

That's the idea of such threads or forums in general, isn't it?

Your collection is nice, but you might want to give Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap or High Voltage a spin (or If You Want Blood ... it sums up the early songs & vibe quite nicely). They're quite different from their later albums.

Have to object once more: I'm not 100% sure on Saxon, but Accept definitely are Metal, not Rock. I think they're closer to Iron Maiden, than to AC/DC.

Yep defintly the bon scott era is better than the brian johnson era but anyays as said before i dont particulary like ac/dc and i just got so many other cds to buy but yeah i have hard dirty deeds and its fairly decent and even more bluesy that the other albums. Like "the jack" But anyways i prefer pure blues music instead of blues hard rock stuff. In that case stevie ray vaughan is exxcellent. And by the way have you heard the song called "Love song" by ac/dc never offically released and the only true ballad ac/dc got...fun stuff

I don't object to that post

Being a guitar player, I dig SRV.

I've never heard "Love song" by AC/DC, I don't think that I'd want to hear an AC/DC ballad either

I think that Status Quo are Rock, whereas AC/DC progressed towards Hard Rock/Heavy Rock. I'm by no means saying that they're progressive as in "progressive rock"

While I agree that most of their stuff sounds the same, they do have a few songs that stand out as being very different (i.e. Hells Bells, Thunderstruck, about half of the Highway to Hell album, etc.). I really like some of their stuff, although there is quite a bit of crap. My favorite song would have to be "Walk All Over You" from Highway to Hell, it has some great almost prog-like temo shifts.

I don't really enjoy Tom Waits as a singer, but his voice is a perfect match for the music. It's the same with Bon Scott / AC/DC. Can't get used to Brian Johnson though.

In England, it was used in a "Celebrity Wrestling" advert. I never once saw that programme, and luckily it was cancelled after only a few shows. There's some real mailto:cr@p - cr@p on tv. It's annoying the way some adverts use music to plug their wares. Forever after, it conjures that advert. If a person who hasn't heard the song before listens to it, they think "Oh, it's this song!" Is that a good thing?

Simple music, stupid lyrics, every album built on the same formula, a guitarist who uses the same chords and riffs over and over, start career as a small time Aussie band, gain world acclaim and millions of record sales, an active career that spans generations.

hmm.. I wouldn't mind a career like that.

Think of it as junk food for the ears.

Sometimes you want a multicourse gourmet meal and sometimes you just want a fastfood burger and chips (fries... crisps)  Sometimes you want to drink fine wine and listen to complex music, brilliant virtuoso playing with beautiful, breathtaking nuances... and sometimes you want to have a few beers and shake your butt to something loud and mindless.

One cannot live on white bread alone. (or whatever the saying is)

This goes for the whole "Punk vs. Prog" crap discussions that rear its ugly head in these forums.

AC/DC are great! Sure we all like to listen to prog, but don't you have days where you just want to listen to something a little more simple and bluesly, that's what bands like AC/DC are for, enjoyment! They don't have depressing lyrics or act boring, they are exciting upbeat and generaly good at the music they play!
It's all a matter of taste!

The vocals in metal are meant to be annoying... and this is coming from a metal fan.

And once again - their music may be simple, but I'd like to see anyone play it the way they do. It's just like the Rolling Stones - Charlie Watts has tricks that are said to be extremely difficult to copy.

I like em!

They never claimed to deep, progressive, clever or whatever. As Snow Dog rightly says they are just a straight talking hard rock band. They're excellent live; good fun!

'If you want blood..' is one of my favourite hard rock live albums.

I can't stand AC/DC! Well, maybe I could stand them in very small doses, but I would never choose to listen to them.

AC/DC ripped off Free.

every AC/DC song is simply a remixed version of a Free song whether its is "Riding on a pony" or "All Right Now"

Free was the first to do meat-and potatoes rock, not AC/DC

Free.  Rodgers, Fraser, Kossof, Kirke

Words are mere paltry in comparison

I can't stand AC/DC they have an irritating repeatative sound.  Yeah, they put on a great stage show and everything, but I hate the tone and repeatition in their music.

Would it be fair to say that AC/DC = headbanger?

I often like their hard-rocking sound, but the grating vocals and often rather dumb lyrics always put me off ever buying an album.Ermm

I certainly don't "hate" them (or any band -- I reserve that word for much bigger/truly evil things), and there are many artists and genres that I can tolerate a lot less of....Stern Smile

ACDC are great for shaking the rust off! Highway to Hell and Back in Black are two of the best hard rock albums ever. I prefer the Bon Scott era. HtH is the only album to make the transition to my CD collection.

They did one album and copyed it 30 times.. at least bon scott was an original singer but the " new one " sucks.. They have been doing exactly the same music without any change for 30 years too long
