I haven't heard most of these, but I HATE Manfred Mann's version of Blinded by the Light. It is drastically inferior to the original.

The fact that "Down To You" was included here made it an easy, instant choice. If it hadn't been, I would've chosen Blinded By The Light (which I think blows Springsteen's version out of the water, by the way). I would also add "Father Of Day, Father Of Night", the Dylan song covered by Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Cool poll!

I mean that all MM´s covers are anywise splendid. (For another example: Dylan´s It´s All Over Now...) But I´ve chosen only one song by each band.

Heart cover tunes!

I'd pick "Every Little Thing" from the ones listed, but here are a few more worth checking out:

"Truth" - Wovenhand (New Order)
"Ain't No Sunshine" - Wovenhand (Bill Withers)
"Clowns" - Rasputina (Goldfrapp)
“Seasons in the Sun” - Pearls Before Swine (Jacques Brel - made famous by Terry Jacks)
“My Father” - Pearls Before Swine (Judy Collins)
"Nature Boy" - Will-o-the Wisp (Eden Ahbez - made famous by Nat King Cole)
"The Smell of Incense" - Smell of Incense (The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band - made famous by Southwest F.O.B.)
“Riding In My Car” aka "Car, Car" - Hapshash & the Coloured Coat (Woody Guthrie)
“Rosemary Lane” - Espers (Bert Jansch)
“Black is the Color” - Espers (Famous Jug Band)
“Like a Rolling Stone” - Spirit (Dylan) - quite possibly the best cover by a prog band ever
"Stand by Your Man" - Verdun (Tammy Wynette)
"Bringing it Back" - Kansas (J.J. Cale)

WIll-o-the Wisp is Psych (an outstanding, newer psych band from Greece BTW).  Verdun is Crossover, Hapshash and Spirit are Proto-prog, Smell of Incense is Prog Folk but really should be Psych (the band name says it all).  The rest are Prog Folk.

I always suspect that the large amount of hate that gets thrown Springsteen's way around here is a result of no one having heard his first two albums. Sure, if you go by what they play on the radio, it's mostly garbage, but those first two records are brilliant. Brilliant I say!

Good pick. I like their take on it.

I prefer, however, Yes's take on America. I always mention it in cover threads. (Though I must admit I prefer the Simon and Garfunkel version over even that)

From this list I only know Every Little thing, and I may say I don't really like the song so much (neither the cover nor the original); however, I do admire the kind of work Yes did with this song, totally converting it to their stile, I wish they had done even more of this.

One cover I really like a lot is Rick Wakeman's version of Eleanor Rigby, he totally made it his own.

By the way, I've seen that Transatlantic did a cover of "And I Love Her", made into 7 min. I'm really curious about it, but it seems it is no longer available.

King Crimson also did "Heroes" from David Bowie (On Collectible King Crimson Vol 4, I think), and "Free as a Bird" from The Beatles (On Vroom Vroom).

Well, I´ve got only one Springsteen´s album, on vinyl:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:TheWildTheInnocent.jpg">
The best what he ever did. Quite good but not brilliant. His style of singing is simply not my cup of tea. The same case is Bob Dylan. His songs are pretty good, but just not in his interpretation.

From the list I like the Brian Eno/Phil Manzanera (801) version of 'Tomorrow Never Knows' most.
Though, if 'other' were an option, I still would have voted for the already mentioned Father of Night, Father of Day from Manfred Mann's Earth Band.

Mine would be Yellow Raven, Pain of Salvation's cover of the song by Scorpions.

From the list, it's gotta be the Yes version of Every Little Thing. I absolutely adore the first Yes album (I'm in the minority), and their take on the Beatles classic is magical.

Voted for The Nice - She Belongs To Me. Emerson chucks in a bit of The Magnificient Seven as well.

MMEB's version of Blinded By The Light is also superb although it has to be the album version with Mann's very clever use of the piano refrain 'chopsticks'.

One not on the list is Lone Star's excellent version of The Beatles - She Said She Said
