Coming across a $3 promotional code on Amazon, I am now perplexed as to which of these albums I should purchase next.

I have until Friday Confused

Which do you think is the best? Or rather, which of these is your personal favourite?

Gracias.

I'd go with Rubycon or Bitches Brew.  In Camera is also pretty good

Miles Davis of course.

Big big Train's Underfall Yard is a modern prog masterpiece. I'd take it if I were you.

I haven't heard all but I'm still going to recommend you In Camera.
It's an album that's easily on par with some of VDGG's best: a true masterpiece.

Doomsday Afternoon is one of my favourite albums of all time, so I strongly recommend you get it. In Camera and The Hazards of Love are also excellent.

This is a very strong list! Bitches Brew has to take it, though. Decemberists take a close second.

I agree, it's brilliant. You should only get Bitches Brew if you like jazz-fusion noodling.

Blimey Alex, that's an incredibly difficult choice. There are at least four essential albums amongst your listConfused

Big Big Train Underfall Yard is, indeed, exceptional. It is also very personal to me, as my review of it will make clear.

Gabriel's Passion is the finest piece of work he was responsible for, and the work of an utter genius, period. Every music collection should have it.

Hazards of Love is one of the finest pieces of folk inspired music I have ever listened to. Utterly brilliant.

In Camera is a great Hamill album. Again, every home should have one.

Let's see. Eeny, meeny, miny, mo, catch a piggy by the toe............

I'll go for Passion, but it really is so tight. I's get them allLOL

Rubycon followed by Bitches Brew.
However, you can always score Rubycon for 3$, Bitches Brew seems an exceptional deal for that price.

I'd personally have 'The Underfall Yard', but I agree you've got a real problem here. Far too much great music in this list.

For the "classic" prog feel, The Underfall Yard is my choice. Though in a pinch, for something a bit different, but still a good listen, both Doomsday Afternoon, or The Hazards Of Love would do as well.
Enjoy whatever you choose.

Just in case someone else wants to make the same decision as the OP.

I got the Rush "Caravan" single. I don't like mp3s, but this was free after coupon and is essentially a download-only release.

Bitches Brew is essential for any serious fan of music.
Passion is Peter Gabriel's best album, but it is very different from all the rest.
Rubycon is one of my favorite Tangerine Dreams.

I got a download too, a Steve Roach album I have been looking for for some years, but is very hard to find.  It is called Quiet Music.  The promo deal is a $3.00 credit to your account.  Foolishly, I thought the download would only cost that amount.  Still, I got a discount on 2 1/2 hours of music I've been wanting for a long time, so I am not complaining.

I demanded that prog be put on the main system whilst I was working, in a forlorn attempt to get out of this awful task.

I put on Hazards Of Love first.

She loved itLOL

I'm not sure. A landmark album in the jazz fusion world granted, but I wouldn't call it essential. I can quite easily understand people not liking it.

There's (I think) 3 significanlty different versions of Bitches Brew. For 3 bux (even in my NZ ) currency (converts to 20 USDs with postage) it's not bad. But be careful of sales and poorly mastered efforts the UnhappyAngryrecord ConfusedCrycompanies OuchAngryDeaddump on unsuspecting music fans.

Still it's Saturday. Too late...

What's the result?

No use in bumping the poll, although it's what I just did LOL

And besides, BB wasn't $3. It was a $3 off discount.
