Ok, this might be really hard for some, but I want to know what your guy's favorite prog song of all times! I know it really is hard to pick one favorite, and I know to some it can be easy, but then changes. That is totally fine! If picking one song is hard to do, pick your top three that seems to cycle around for you, so try to pick those 3 songs that are your absolute favorite! Or maybe top 5! But nothing past 5 please.

I think my number one favorite prog song is:
(1) Moon In June, Soft Machine.

but if I had to choose three, it would be:
(1) Moon in June, Soft Machine
(2) Future Days, Can
(3) Histoires Sans Paroles, Harmonium

Have fun!

"Favorite prog songs"? Now that's masochistic.
I mean, that's like "What is your favorite sentence of any book you know?" - it is possible, but it doesn't make sense.

Prog really isn't about good songs, but if I had to choose 3, it would be:-

1) Watercolour Days - Clouds
2) In the Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson
3) OK Computer - Radiohead

Posted By: EchidnasArf
Date Posted: August 14 2011 at 16:22
^^ OK Computer is an album. Maybe you meant "Paranoid Android" from said album.

Impossible to name just one, so the first few that come to mind are (in no order):

"In the Court of the Crimson King" - KC
"Echidna's Arf" - Zappa
"Echoes" - Pink Floyd
"Happiness is a Warm Gun" - The Beatles
"Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus" - TMV
"Bundles" - Soft Machine
"Peaches en Regalia" - Zappa
"Close to the Edge" - Yes

All of those would pretty much tie for my number 1. But honestly, after reading my list just now, I have to say that "ItCotCK" and "Peaches en Regalia" probably trump the others by a hair as far as what I consider to be the quintessential "prog" song.

No single genre exists solely to be listened to by musicians. There are plenty of people on this site who aren't musicians.
