they all are reactions of the previous style Glam was one reason grunge started with merging heavy metal and punk, nu-metal evolved from grunge by merging metal with electronics/hip hop, metalcore took some of nu-metal with hardcore, and made it something else but what is your prefeard style Glam metal/hair metal
: Poison, Twisted Sister, Mötley Crue, Def Lepard, Bon Jovi, Europe, Hanoi Rocks, Whitesnake Grunge metal/punk/rock
Nu-Metal
: Korn, Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Slipknot, Metalcore

It is only important if one wants it correct for a title of something like a thread. Or to me it's important. I hate your thread titles. but that is my problem. You didn't even put a capital on your username. That bugs me too.

Only an Admin can do that if you wish it. To be honest, a lot of users have a non capital for their usernames. It is obviously only an issue for me. Actually what I hate even more are usernames with all capitals eg TODDLER or threads like this too, Which is why I never read his posts btw.

Goodness Snow Dog is there anything that doesn't make you angry? Also seem to get more bitter and direct as each day progresses. I'm making note to stay off your lawn! I guess Metalcore. There are at least some bands of that genre I like and overall, it's acceptable. Glam metal has about 0% of my attention, nu metal...idk maybe like 1% and grunge consists of one band to me...so yeah metalcore by default more or less. Really should've used no caps in that at all! |

Grunge. I could take Metalcore if it didn't sound a bit boring for someone like me who is used to Thrash-Metal, Death-Metal, Grindcore and the good ol' 80's Hardcore stuff. |

Glam is my least favourite genre and I don't believe in glam metal (none of the bands are remotely metal). I don't believe in grunge really, it doesn't seem to have any standards whatsoever. I hate Nu metal. I don't like metalcore, however metalcore contains a couple bands I love, such as The Agonist and BtBaM (I consider them a mix of prog and metalcore at least).

Grunge by a long shot. Some really great bands came out of Grunge, and more specifically, Alternative/Indie Rock. The Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Alice In Chains, Dinosaur Jr., Mudhoney, etc. All these bands were making creative and unique music, especially The Smashing Pumpkins and Sonic Youth.

grunge for me, by a long shot... it's what brought me back to rock in 91 (along with RHCP)... and yes, I liked Nirvana.... and I still do!!  
Strangely enough, although I litteraly hated most hair/glam-metal back in the !ā's, I find that I can actually listen (a bit) to Motley or GnR... I guess it sounds lame and tame next to these hardcore metal genres of today, which is probably why I can stand it better nowadays... guess I'm getting old
  But I still can't stand most of hair-glam, especially bon anchiove.

you are a hardcore guy... For me it's a tie between glam and grunge, but there are much more glam bands/music that I like than grunge bands : glam bands that I like : Skid Row, Ratt ('out of the cellar'), Extreme, Van Halen, Montrose, Europe, Alien (the self-titled album), Def Leppard ('Pyromania'), Rosy Vista, Arsenal, Murderer's Row, Motley Crue ('Dr Feelgood'), 21 Guns, Blue Murder, Badlands, Gary Moore ('run for cover'), Beau Nasty, Signal, Dangerous Toys, IRA (polish band), Ozzy Osbourne (the Randy Castillo era), Accept, Scorpions, Queen (they have some glam songs), Loudness, Mr. Big, WASP, It Bites ('eat me in st louis') and Judas Priest ('screaming for vengeance' and 'defenders of the faith') ! (Also glam-related prog metal bands like Crimson Glory, Angra, Queensr˙che, Dream Theater, Savatage and power metal bands like Helloween, Blind Guardian, Viper, Gamma Ray) grunge bands that I like : Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Jane's Addiction, Alice In Chains, Normalsi (polish band), Hey (polish band).(Melvins is not grunge, Smashing Pumpkins neither is). ------------- "Magma was the very first gothic rock band" (Didier Lockwood) |
