Does anyone know of a few albums with vocalist that sounds a lot like Peter Gabriel, or possibly with a flute on most or all of the tracks? I would certainly love to hear another band with songs similar to "The Musical Box."

The newest Big Big Train album has vocals that remind me a lot of Peter Gabriel at times. And it's a great album to boot.

His replacement in K2, Josh Gleason, who sang on the band's second studio CD 'Black Garden', is very similar...So similar in fact that his main role in life is as lead singer with the excellent Genesis tribute band 'The Waiting Room': http://www.genesistribute.com/Band.aspx" rel="nofollow - http://www.genesistribute.com/Band.aspx .

So let's have a listen to him:

In 'The waiting Room':

And in K2:

And of course british band Citizen Cane are maybe the closest you'll get to Gabriel like vocals and Genesis like songs.

Thank you very much for the recommendations. The first two certainly sound very similar. I will probably listen to the others very soon.

Their are moments on MARILLION's FUGAZI where DEREK DICK A.K.A FISH sounds like Peter Gabriel.

INCUBIS and FUGAZI are the tracks specifically. No flute though except the end of the track of FUGAZI. enjoy man.

Perhas Van Der Graff Generator? Peter Hamill doesn't sound so much like Gabriel, but he does the theatric singing a lot, just like Gabriel (and for me, he is a much better singer), and there's some flute on VDGG, though there's much more sax. Oh, and not much guitar.

There's a whole genre of progressive rock that's devoted to mimic Gabriel's vocal faculties.
