I thought I'd make an appreciation poll about one of my favorite prog composers. My fellow Greek, Jim Matheos. IMHO, whatever he involves in, it's quality guaranteed.

So, here are my favorite creations of his, in no particular order. I thought you might want to join me and share a comment about this great man, who has given me many, many hours of top music.

My vote goes to A Pleasant..., a true prog metal gem and in my top 3 of all time best albums...

Go...

From the list Sympathetic Resonance but I picked "other". I'm just not sure which one. I'm such a huge fan of his playing and music.
Twist Of Fate by John Arch is right there along with Fates Warning's Disconnected, Perfect Symmetry and Awaken The Guardian.
Matheos did a great job as well on that Gordian Knot album called "Emergent".

I thought of including A Twist... and Emergent on the list but since his contribution was not that big, I didn't...

I voted "A Pleasant Shade of Grey", but "Arch/Matheos" is a close second.

Gonna go with other. Great selective works to choose in this poll, but I feel that Matheo's
Guitar and compositional skills really shine hard on the works of DISCONNECTED.

STILL REMAINS still remains my favourite fates track of all time. Simply brilliant.

Also. He did an album called AWAY WITH WORDS, which greatly explores his creative interests as a muscian.
His most Avant Garde work. Easy.

I'm not allowed to vote on the poll :( but my vote would go towards OSI. The past three albums (with Gavin Harrison, consequently) are utterly brilliant in my humble opinion. Jim's tone is just monster, and I feel that he really stands out on the newest album, Fire Make Thunder.

Exactly my thoughts, even down to not being able yet to vote in the poll.

Not even to mention Kevin Moore's technical and textural brilliancy on the keys and with vocals, Gavin is a beast behind the kit, and Jim's guitar work is incredible.

His lead work on a couple of the songs on "Blood" ("The Escape Artist" and "No Celebrations") really sticks out to me.
Also, not to go too far, but the title track on "Blood" happens to be one of my favourite prog metal songs of the 21st century.

"Fire Make Thunder" is a masterpiece as well, but "Blood" is their magnum opus, to me.

He is one of the directions I go when I think of prog in the 90's and beyond.

^^^ you guys are making me smile with all this positive talk about Matheos and Moore.

Also. It's a sad thing that OSI are not very well known. Incredible music. Experimental metal at its best.

I noticed in OSI's interview with Metalblade Records owner, they said that they are contemplating playing live for the first time in since the band's inception.

I've talked with 05Ric, a collaborator with Gavin Harrison via email (you should check out their stuff if you haven't!) and an OSI tour could possibly happen...someday... :)

Welcome to PA man!

Anyway. I hope your are right about OSI getting the touring machine up and running.

I can understand Moore not touring with Chroma key. It's really a studio strict project, but OSI!? Yeah. They (Moore, Matheos and Harrision got get going on that. 4 great albums of material. It's time!

Also. I like their latest effort, fire Make Thunder the best. 5/5 for me. :)

How are people feeling about the latest OSI release, Fire Make Thunder?
I personally feel its their strongest release yet. And how about the Matheo's guitar playing on
Invisible Men and guards? Pretty amazing stuff if you ask me. ;)

Love how people are appreciating the legendary Matheos. ;)
