Topic: Your prog mood Posted: July 14 2007 at 15:30 |
The question is the following: which prog song describes your actual mood? Name it and tell why if you can; I mean, we sometimes don't know how describe our emotions......
Of course you can mention a song that could describe your persona as well....... kinda permanent mood, certain tendences you have, perhaps...... but people logically are moody and every minute their moods change and....... I'm being specific: right now, which prog song describes your mood?

opeth - windowpane
it's mellow, but still has the Opeth darkness. Its hard to describe why it fits my mood, but it does.

In the latest weeks I feel like a Kid A (Radiohead) & Pantagruel's Nativity (Gentle Giant).
Maybe some issues related to my personal life are the cause of my actual love to these two songs...... Both are softly painful, depressing, mindblowingly......
Here is another point: can we have a little knowledge `bout a person before knowing him/her, but knowing his musical tastes and the song (prog or not) that he/she says it describes him/her mood??

Now: Magma - The Last Seven Minutes. It's just so... yeah... Funkishness... And that's how I feel right now. Funky.

Since it's summertime, it's the time of year that all my funk and reggae come out. So lately I've been getting jiggy with it to Stephen Marley (who sounds excatly like Bob voice wise by the way) and Seeed. Prog-wise, I'd have to say A Passion Play because it's so lighthearted and humor filled.

I'm in a kinda' mellow, conented mood at the moment so White Willows Ignis Fatuus fits best (but I'm still listening to PoS). I dont to listen to music to fit my mood, I just play music and let it lead me.

Right now, Tenemos Roads by National Health fits my mood. Relaxed and jazzy. That's why I'm playing National Health's first album right now.

When I watched parts of Live Earth, all I could think of was Porcupine Tree's "The Sound of Muzak." The lyrics just fit with my opinion of that event.
Now, I'd say Porcupine Tree's "Way Out of Here" has fit my mood for several months for reasons I won't specify (sorry Bob). Another would be Devin Townsend's "Random Analysis" as the lyrics pretty much sum me up at this point in my life (especially the break from "But I'm loving" through "I'm here for your unbridled entertainment") What a bed of roses my life is.
Also, Rush's "Freewill" has always appealed to my sensibilities, although I do add some Christianity to the independence, which may or may not ruin the point of the song...well, now I've got something to think about.

I'm King Crimson's "Fracture" - unsettled, jumpy, sharp and gathering a fierce momentum. ;)

Something for Nothing by Rush. It's spoken a lot to me lately. I'm in college right now, trying my best so I can get accepted to an elite grad school. Among other important things in my personal life I'm trying to accomplish, it would be too easy to just give up and settle for less. But I really do want it, but I won't get it for nothing.

The song that would best describe my mood would probably be I Talk To The Wind off of ITCOTCK because the mood is mellow and overall relaxed and the mellotron is soothing.

Well, now that were talking about songs that describes ourselves and not our mood...
Arriving somewhere, but not here! A song that's serene and majestic, to slightly angry, to very artistic. Me in a nutshell!
