Hi José
That’s actually one of my favourite things: listening to music after a shower. The experience is even heightened if you end the shower with COLD water...like a minute or so. Trust me on this, it’s actually quite thrilling
I think it’s to do with all the endorphins that let lose under the cold water kickstarting your whole nervous system...which then awards you with an increased sense of clarity and musical involvement. Also why I absolutely adore listening to music by the seaside. Music sounds brilliant after a quick and cold dip
Bro...I never said a shower, I shower on Sunday nights and only with cold water to save money on gas heater. LOL
But I totally get what you describe, it really happens!! Approve

You know, i have admit that until you mentioned it, that lp completely passed me by!Embarrassed Ive read (yours and others) review here and went straight on YouTube and am listening to it now!!!! WOW how have I missed this album??ConfusedOuch Certainly musically its miles out there beyond 'Magic brother..' and 'Continental Circus' and sounds (in sections) much more advanced than 'Camembert..' and has a rawness that Gong lost a bit after Camembert.. mind you some of the more obscure live bootlegs etc with long improvised work-outs show they could still do it.. but not really there till Planet Gong Floating Free Anarchy.. Ive been looking to see if I can find a physical copy of this and have drawn a complete blank.. has it been re-issued at any time recently?? I bet original copies fetch a frightening amount!!

WOW again.. i'm genuinely shocked that ive not heard this beforeShockedShocked but that's the REAL joy of this forum, you can ALWAYS find something new by recommendation or research.

You've made my day!! i'm a very happy man! Many thanks xxxBig smileBig smile

P.S I think it would be very hard to plough straight furrows with this on in the tractor!!Wink

Sweet
I’m always on about this album over the forum so it warms my heart to see that someone picked up on the rec. It is a wonderful album, and no sadly it has not been re-released to my knowledge...which is both criminal and somewhat odd imo. I mean, there are quite a few of these specialised labels that go out of their way to find some of the most obscure prog/psych known to man...and when you then think about the players involved it makes even less sense
Oh well we can always hope. I vividly remember feeling the exact same about another French band called Plat Du Jour who made one selftitled album back in 1977, a masterpiece no less..yet lo and behold if it didn’t get a re-release after a couple of very very positive reviews over PA

After a bit more research I found out that it was re-released 1n 1977 on the same label and catalogue numbers and the few copies I found on Discogs were these and were either ropey condition or massively over priced! But then I found its been re-issued by Replica records which specialize in French Prog and Avant garde re-issues and on their site it says its in stock for 20 Euros + P&P so I shall certainly be ordering that!!!Big smileBig smileBig smile

That is quite simply brilliant
Truth be told I never did a search
Now that I do know it’s available and doesn’t cost a small fortune, I hope more people like yourself who are into Gong/Hillage will latch onto it..because well it is perhaps one of the finest Gong albums (with a French vocalist mind you) that nobody seems to know about!

Hey Hey it arrived today!!Big smile Super quick dispatch from those Replica/ Musea guys in France and i'm now giving 'Obsolete' by Dashiell Hadayat GONG its 3rd blast this evening, just what I need after a day moving irrigation about most of the day in the boiling hot sunshine!! It says it needs to be listened to as loud and as stoned as (im)possible.. I can achieve the first part, sadly not the secondEmbarrassedWinkClapxxx

I do enjoy the latter quite regularly because of my back, but I feel it is way better for my overall health than the opioid derived pills I get from the doc (the latter almost made me a junkie inside a week before I threw those badboys in the trash).
I do remember when I first got a hold of this record almost instantly feeling that I had found something truly special..and like you ended up spinning the thing several times during the day. It also spurred me on to check out similar lesser known stuff under the Gong umbrella, which then lead me to the Peel Sessions (another fairly easy recommendation if you don’t own it already)

This morning:
Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire de Melody Nelson (Really just as much of a Vannier album. Most old school pork fans should dig this methinks..I certainly do)
David Axelrod - Song Of Innocence (I really dig this sort of warm almost 60s television score-music..yet it’s jazzy like Nilovic..and then not really. More lofty and melodic)
The Future Sound Of London - Dead Cities (Yep. Never fails. With summer comes a craving for electronic music. I often start out with the IDM scene, and this one is just awesome right this minute over my Hifiman headphones whilst watching a blue sunlit sky. Feels like summer)

Todd Terje | It’s Album Time
I'm definitely intrigued, I'll give it a listen next week. I really like the rhythm guitars on the debut.

How cool is that album? I think it's just the song with Bryan Ferry drags it a bit.

Also this week:
Goblin - Roller
Haken - Affinity
Leprous - Pitfalls
Edgar Froese - Stuntman (My go-to EF album, although it's not his best work.)
Brand X - Morrocan Roll (They never did much for me but I keep trying from time to time.)
Space Art - Play Back (First listen. I expected the worst from their last album but it's not so bad.)
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Visions of the Emerald Beyond (Honestly I enjoy this album a lot more than "Birds of Fire".)

Just still in boxset land. I don’t think I’ve ever been so focused on boxsets like this in my life. I’m finding so much love and more appreciation for these albums.

Marillion— Script for a Jesters Tear. ( Smashed all 5 discs this past week. The 2020 remixes are amazing, however the mastering on the CDs is god awful. )

Tears For Fears— Songs from the Big Chair 35th Ann edition. ( this 6CD set is so tastefully done I can easily say it is one of the very best boxsets I’ve ever bought. The recordings and expanded remixes are absolutely incredible and have given me a huge respect for the true depth that Smith and Orzabal have. I highly recommend people to buy this.
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Faust | The Faust Tapes
Adam & the Ants | Dirk Wears White Sox - pre-fame debut, fine post pubk, try it!
Emerson Lake & Palmer | Isle of Wight Festival 1970
ELO | Eldorado - never really warmed up to this one for some reason
Bloodrock | s/t - great 1970 hard rock with slightly artsy leanings
Edgar Froese | Aqua
James Ferraro | Jarvid 9: Flushpipe
Throbbing Gristle | 20 Jazz Funk Greats
REM | New Adventures in Hi-Fi - bored me to tears. I want to like post-IRS REM, but ehhhhghhh
Colosseum | Live
Ty Segall | Melted
Todd Rundgren | Back to the Bars
Cocteau Twins | Blue Bell Knoll
The Fall | Middle Class Revolt
Crevice | Think of Pleasant Things - cool droney ambient thing from the 90s I once reviewed. Sounded great today.

Good to see you Jim! I was just thinking the other day I should listen to some Goblin Thumbs Up
What are your thoughts on that IdV album? I always have a hard time going through it, and I have the vinyl version that cut some songs off (maybe the better ones?). I got my copy signed by David Jackson though so I won't get rid of it Tongue

Ahhh I may be a minority on this but I consider it to be one of the best albums ever, it is just magical, beautiful...perfect. It's one of those albums that you have a special bond with, on the one hand it's pastoral with french horn and on the other hand it's raw with distortions, and of course it is very progressive, keeps the listener on his toes and always interesting.
Maybe it's because I don't return to it often but every time I spin it, it always seem like a very different album. It's indeed magical!

What do you think of it? I'm still addicted on the debut but I should hear their later albums. It's the same case for Depeche Mode coincidentally.

Last week or so:
Judas Priest - Sad Wings of Destiny (First listen, I only knew "British Steel". It's really good, it reminded me of VdGG at times with those vocals and dark atmospheres.)
Maserati - Enter the Mirror (One of my faves from this year, even if I don't think it's as good as "Rehumanizer".)
Asia Minor - Between Flesh and Divine
Cos - Viva Boma
ABC - The Lexicon of Love
Space Art - Trip in the Center Head
Robert Schröder - Harmonic Ascendant
Kikagaku Moyo - Masana Temples
Jonas Munk & Nicklas Sørensen - Always Already Here
Jonas Munk - Minimum Resistance
