Shimmer into Nature is an Ozric album in all but name, and a step up from Technicians offthe Sacred IMO. But I’m a fussy b*****d when it comes to OT.

Freedom’s Goblin is on my wishlist and will probably make the next batch ![]() I literally just woke up and feel like spinning Manipulator. That is not exactly normal for my head to seek out such punchy rawk music this early in the day. Btw I listened to Wilderness Heart a couple of weeks back and was pleasantly surprised. I seem to remember not liking it at all...mostly because I was expecting In The Future pt 2 or on steroids ![]() |

You are saying all the right things!!! Man I miss my uncles old farm..gets me thinking I need a tractor and some fields to plow to the zippy sounds of Ed and co. ![]() Ozrics gig at Stonehenge would be at the very top for me...maybe alongside an underwater Klaus Schulze one ![]() Btw seeing as you dig the Ozrics and Gong...any chance you’ve ever heard the “lost” Gong album ‘Obsolete’? Sure it’s listed under some French fella named Dashiell Hedayatt..but it’s pretty much Gong via members AND most importantly the music. |

Same but different..oh yes ![]() You know what..I haven’t thought about Mars Everywhere since the last time I listened to it..which must be 7-8 years ago..back when my external harddrive worked ![]() Not sure exactly but they may have beem suggested for PA whilst I was on the psych team and I somehow procurred a rip...but I remember digging the band..immensely. Thanks for the reminder ![]() Lard Free? Now there’s another fave of mine that I haven’t listened to for ages. |

David- I get similar feelings listening to Ty Segall’s Manipulator album. It’s just filled with winners. If you haven’t heard Freedom’s Goblin (another double album), I highly recommend it, I think it may be just as good - plus it has a long Neil Young-like jam at the end of side 4.

Yay! Love some Ozrics, me! Ive just needed some upbeat, positive and atmospheric music to accompany some rather repetitive rural ruminations.. at least the sun is out but the wind is biting cold! Anyway, Ed and the crew always hit the spot.. I agree with what Sagi says about the numerous differences in sound, texture, effects etc across the lps but it always just instantly IS the Ozrics which can, on occasion, seem a bit 'same-y' but somehow that just makes it better for this kinda situation.. nice and trance and not too heavy. I first saw the Ozrics at Stonehenge and other free (and not so 'Free') festivals in the mid 80's but never really took much notice; they just sounded like a shambolic instrumental Gong type outfit (and there were loads about!) and I preferred Here & Now.. then I heard a couple of their pre-vinyl tapes and took more notice and then bought pungent effulgent when I can out and haven't looked back.. Today I played Arborescence and Strangetude I also played 'Kings of Oblivion' by the Pink fairies and now for some bizarre reason (compulsion) I am going to play 'Trans' by Neil Young. No accounting for taste

Yes Ed's solo album is no different than an Ozric album for good or for bad, I have a half review somewhere sleeping in my laptop, I should get that finished sometime... I'm glad you're spending time with more Ozrics, as I said you can't go wrong with any of their studio albums (I'm missing two). I love how from one hand it is so diverse mixing so many ideas and sounds but than again kind of samey, I haven't cracked that one out yet... Dave if we're already talking, I've been rediscovering lately a band called Mars Everywhere and their sole album released in 1980. It's one of the most obscure and unique albums out there, kinda like Lard Free only totally different, mixing a lot of electronics with space rock and free jaz experiments really crazy stuff. I got a review fired up and ready to go I'll post that one soon but in the mean time do you know it?

Nice little Ozrics run there ![]() I have been spinning quite a few of their albums myself. I believe Sagi (guy right above you (hi buddy)) turned me onto some of their latter day albums..or at the very least late 90s albums. I really dig the crosspolenation of prog and Goa trance. Haven’t heard the newest solo album from Ed but if reviews are anything to go by, then it is a fine new Ozric Tentacles album. Yesterday: Dr. John - Gris Gris Childish Gambino - Awaken, My Love! (Somewhat late in the game I discovered that this guy in fact is Donald Glover aka actor and son of Danny ![]() Hatfield & The North - s/t Air - 10000 Hz Legend Ty Segall - Manipulator (A great song follows a great song follows a great song..etc. Been a while since I last heard this and I’m quite taken aback of just how many great tracks there are on here) Povl Dissing - Lykkeland Arthur Russell - World Of Echo |

Hi there you guys
![]() I’ve been working my arse off the last month or so. Some of the more..err...progressive kids got back from Corona-vacation, so I’ve been working overtime plus doing weird shifts. Anyway...I can’t remember the last time I’ve felt so exhausted...so PA has been the last thing on my mind when I finally get home and see the couch ![]() Lots of music though..and here the other day I got a proper new haul through the door, katjing! Yesterday: Tame Impala - The Slow Rush Siouxsie & The Banshees - Hyæna Die Wilde Jagd - Haut (twice...what a trip!) Dr. John - Babylon Dr. John - The Sun, Moon & Herbs Dr. John - In The Right Place Dr. John - Dr. John’s Gumbo (It’s official, I’m a fan! Gelatinous southern blues and jazz from the delta) Siinai - Olympic Games Ozric Tentacles - Curious Corn (This may just be one of the first times I’ve ever really sat down and listened to this album. I plan on doing it again sometime soon:) Orbital - In Sides (So cool to have this on cd..finally!) |

Still more boxset mayhem I’m enjoying of late, my fine Gentleman.
Marillion— Script For A Jesters Tear (2020 remix, 4Cd 1 Blu Ray ) — I don’t recommend this boxset unless you support BLU ray audio as a listening experience. The Blu ray in this set is amazing. It is fully loaded containing a 93min doc, 5.1 and stereo mixes, 2 live concerts, an EP in high res stereo and tons of promo videos. Hrs of entertainment. The CDs however? Blah. If the blu ray was sold on its own I’d just by that. I guess overall I could say this boxset is recommended for the serious collector for fish-era Marillion. ![]() |
