Hello all. I’ve been a boxset nut this past week. Dedicating and spending time with 3 mega sets. I can safely recommend all of these sets. Really great. The remasters are actually tasteful and well done.

Tears for Fears— Songs from the big chair ( 4CD 2 DVD 30th ann edition. )

The Cult— Sonic Temple ( 5CD 30th Ann edition. )

Killing Joke— The Gathering (4CD live in 2008)
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti | The Doldrums (2020 vinyl remaster) — wow, what a restoration job of this masterpiece. It always sounded like an AM radio beaming in from a time warp with gobs of warpy fuzz and such, but now there’s instrument separation and higher clarity. Instead of ruining the lo-fi experience, it enhances it. Nice.

R. Stevie Moore | Returns — an old 1976 C-90 cassette from his cassette club, moved to CDR format in later years and mailed to me some 15 years ago. I’ve been a great booster of his work for a long time, even though it’s unlikely I’ll live long enough to hear it all. Hundreds of albums. This is one of just 3 dozen or so I have, and it’s one of the best.

Utopia | Oops! Wrong Planet - fun arena-rock style album with all 4 guys sharing lead vocals. You don’t hear many albums like this any more

Tom Verlaine | s/t — first solo album after Television.

Don Cherry | Organic Music Society — double album with lots of African music on it. I don’t know enough to talk about such music but it hits the spot.

Hoy y ayer

Capt Beefheart | Lick My Decals off Baby — i watched this incredible 2 hour interview with Art Tripp on youtube Sunday. The interviewer is a modern Canadian composer (Samuel Andreyev) and Artie really opened up to him, as Samuel has a deep musical understanding of Beefheart. He’s also done long interviews with John French, Bill Harkleroad, and Jeff Cotton (the latter giving his first EVER interview, by phone from Hawaii!). Anyway, look it up. The Art Tripp interview was awesome.

Panda Bear | Person Pitch — Animal Collective guy’s first solo album, this is at least as good as anything by that band - probably sits most closely to “Merriweather Post Pavilion “ in style, and that’s an acknowledged classic in the new millennium in indie rock. The basic strategy of both albums, as I see it, is to come up with one’s own SMiLE (Beach Boys) album.

The Fall | Live to Air in Melbourne ‘82 - pretty decent sounding official bootleg from that 5-6 year period where they could do no wrong (1980-86, roughly)

Matthew Friedberger | Winter Women - main writer from the Fiery Furnaces solo album. This in one of 2 albums included in the 2 disc set and even though it’s the more accessible of the two, it still had my mind spinning by the end. The easy songs are front-loaded at the beginning, and then look out.

Hugh Hopper | 1984 — Hugh was the man. I miss him.

Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti | House Arrest — new 2020 restore/remaster 2 LP release, arrived yesterday. This stuff was unreal before, now it’s unrealer.

Laurie Anderson | United States Live (disc 1) —love this in principle but I should only put it on when I’m ready to commit to it. Most of it consists of subtle monologues, probably better with the visuals, but still cool if you immerse yourself in it rather than put it on in the background while you work at a desk nearer to a fan than the speakers.

The Ventures | Mashed Potatoes & Gravy — hey, the Ventures! Early 60s surf guitar instrumentals. They put out dozens of albums of this stuff - the CD set I have consists of 8 albums in the span from 1960-62, and that’s apparently only scratching the surface. Everything sounds more or less the same but the finesse and expressiveness these guys have on their guitars is impressive

Swans | Soundtracks for the Blind — just to remind us that yeah, life can be kind of ugly, but beautiful too, in the sense of a tiger tearing apart its prey is beautiful. Yay for balance in nature.

Here the other day though I went for the newest double album, Technicians Of The Sacred. Now I remember liking it the last time I span it but was somewhat taken aback by how much I enjoyed it this time around.

Good luck with Spirals LOL not an easy album as I mentioned, If the whole album is too much go for the recommended tracks.
I'm surprised Technicians wasn't as good as you thought man, as much as I love Ozrics if I were to give one 5 star rating to one of their albums Techinicians would be it Approve What awards it with the fifth star in my book is that it's their most mature album, it sounds so complete, every note is just in the right place and it's their most organic and natural sounding album in ages (as opposed to Spirals), very very rare for a double album (although it's not that long overall).

That is quite the praise there Sagi. I may need some more time with it..but then again The Ozrics have sounded completely different to me lately, so I am actually looking forward to some more sessions with them

Well the jig is up. I've been back to work for the last week and I certainly miss the quality time I got to spend with my sonics, however it is the weekend now and I’ve decided on a blu ray Audio night for Friday and Saturday. :)

APP— Eye in the Sky (Blu Ray)
APP— Tales of mystery & Imagination ( Blu Ray )
APP— Ammonia Avenue (Blu Ray Audio )
Evanescence— Synthesis. (Blu Ray. Incredible quality. Best thing Evanescence has ever done. )
The Beatles— Abbey Road ( Blu Ray Audio 2019 stereo mix. Best possible listen you can have with this album. No compromises. )

All of these albums I highly recommend for headphone listening. You really get it all here.

I had a rare day yesterday with almost no music at all. 8 hours together with one little girl that sounded like an electric goat in heat was pretty much all the noise I could take. She loves me and trusts me completely..yet that only escalates the goaty sounds.
When I got home I merely wanted to sit quietly in a sunbeam and listen to my breathing
I may have snuck in some Tangerine Dream just before turning in..believe it was Green Desert.
Electric Goat in Heat. Bravo, mein amigo.
