Lots of great and diverse lists everyone Thumbs Up Good to see you here Michael and with some lovely RPI titles too Big smile

Hey David, happy Easter for you as well. Curiously I love listening to music (duh) and running/walking in the forest but I don't like doing both, I prefer the sound of nature for a change Wink

Definitely yes. I’d say try out Music from The Body (with Roger Waters) first, it’s about 80% Ron. If that stuff doesn’t turn you off, you’re ready for the other stuff.
“Right Through” is probably the most musical of the ones I know, the very early stuff thrives on absurd Scottish humor, so if you like that kinda thing, go for it.

Ouch indeed, it’s one of my favorite albums ;). But it’s not for everyone, not even Zappa fans.

I chose side 6 specifically because it fit my mood. It’s one of those albums that gets really abstract and weird at the end, and I just needed some wonky mood music . :)
I heard the first 15 minutes off The Body and it's pretty great, it makes a nice companion to AHM or Ummagumma. I'll need to get back to it in the right mood. I think I ignored it because it's in Waters' discography and I really dislike his later solo stuff Dead

You're the third person I know who mentioned it being one of their faves, and since sometimes I prefer the less loved ones I thought I'd give it a shot. He's one of those artists who I admire for their musical vision more than actually liking the music, if that makes sense.

I'm not very familiar with Sandinista as I am with the first three (LC is one of my all time faves for sure) but now that you mention, I remember the whole album had lots of twists and turns especially near the end.

Not much in the last week, I spent most of the time playing Witcher 3 as well as composing and practicing a guitar solo (still far from recording a near perfect take Ouch):
Zone Six - Zone Six
Blocco Mentale - Poa
The Worm Ouroboros - Endless Way From You (It gets better on the second half but I think it's mostly the clean and soft production that brings it down for me. The drums sound too floaty and the guitars lack of beefiness. I heard a couple of songs off the debut after and the difference was striking.)
Eloy - Colours (The more I listen to it the more it's becoming my favourite.)
Willie Hutch - The Mark Of The Beast

Today’s listen. I strongly focused on my Simple Minds boxset of New Gold Dream.

Simple minds— New Gold Dream 81-82-83-84 (2016 remaster. Man this is so tastefully done. Quality remaster. So rare I find.
Simple Minds— radio Edits and b-sides
Simple Minds— John Peel Sessions (1982)
Simple Minds— Blu ray Audio (24/96 PCM stereo version. )
Simple Minds— extended Remixes

I think it is safe to say I love New Gold Dream.
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

To Dave (Guldbamsen). Amazing post. I as well really dig “the lengthy” stroll and it wasn’t till a few months ago that I invested in an amazing pair of IEMS. I walk an hr a day and mostly due playlists and it really adds to the experience and sweet peace that one gets when doing a walkabout. :) Oh and Happy Easter to you. :)

To Steve. Yes. “Takes a Nation” is really something and incredibly iconic in the 1990’s. My guess is all that your friend s impression was missing is a big clock worn around his neck. Lol that Flav is one character. Please do give “Fear of a Black Planet” (1990) a listen! It is the mother of all Public Enemy albums. I strongly feel it is their absolute best.

Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

I'll tell you, Sagi, I've had some real disappointments in life lately (and I've been feeling my passion for music dip quite a lot lately, as well as becoming quite inactive on the Archives for a few months now, really been letting Todd and Loius in the Italian Group down greatly).

Just recently I had some plans fall through, so I used part of the money that I'd put aside for that and placed an order for several classic Italian prog Seventies titles I don't have in my collection (and are LONG overdue!). Felt like I needed to do something to lift my spirits, try to kick that passion and excitement back in. The Osage Tribe one was one of them...and I literally instantly thought of you as I ordered it, thinking `Sagi always dug the hell out of this one, I really should pick it up!'

So the order hasn't arrived yet, but in this case I spun the Youtube clip of the full album (it's the only album I'm cheating on, the rest I'll wait until they arrive ), and really dug it, thought it was red-hot! So thank you, haha...
Sorry to hear that my friend, I hope something better will be coming your way soon, at least enjoy those albums I'm sure they'll cheer you up.

Michael your post gave me the urge to end this day with something Italian, so I picked up something I think you'll approve.

Corte Dei Miracoli - S/T Thumbs Up
Isildurs Bane Off The Radar
Deluge Grander - August In The Urals
The Worm Ouroboros - Endless Way From You
Spoke Of Shadows - II
Eskaton - Fiction

My next few listens last night as I try to kick the Italian prog love back up a notch:

Gianni D’Errico – Antico Teatro da Camera
Exploit – Crisi (love this one so much)
Capitolo 6 – Frutti per Kagua (dirty, sexy and heavy as f*ck)
I Ramighi – Il Lungo Cammino dei Raminghi
I Califfi - Fiore di Metallo
Le Orme – Orme (1990)

Hey Dave, good to see you again, mate

Happy Easter everyone
Took a bit of a break from my phone and have spent a lot of time “in the wild”. I’m not sure how many of you do this, but I have always been crazy about taking my music outdoors. Sure Popol Vuh is beautiful music in your livingroom but something about the whole feel of the music gets amplified by something as little as a lake, a meadow or merely walking down a backalley to the forest.
Conversely, some contemporary electronic music can give urban sceneries this beautiful otherworldly sheen, most particular at night I find.

It will be a bible-length post if I have to list everything since last, but this morning feels more palatable. No stroll through the forest or anything of the sort, but I’ve been enjoying watching the sun get out of bed. It was a slow orangy ooze today, which I gifted with an orangy album in In der Gärten Pharaos
Then Kate Bush’s Lionheart, Dungen’s Tio Bitar and now in the midst of Air’s 10000 Hz Legend. All wonderful morning albums btw
I had a memorable stroll through a forest hiking trail a few weeks ago, for the duration of the album “It Seems” by Colin Newman (1988). It came out just as I was discovering Wire, and it’s always been a source of peace for me; almost a Buddhist lyrical approach to the songs over sparkly synthesizer and sequencer music, very meditative. It was comforting. I think this was at the end of Week 1 of Staying the Hell Home.

Sounds like quite the stroll..as well as album. Duly noted btw
I walked through Aalborg yesterday, probably a few times, as I was in search of an open store (I eat food on a daily basis). Stevie Wonder’s Talking Book and Eloy’s Inside as company. Stevie actually works wonders in an urban setting...although I may have shaken my toosh just a tad too frivolously when I finally found a kiosk that had cigarettes. The girl behind the counter looked at me like you look at an unexpected stork in your livingroom.

Other cool listens yesterday:
Siouxsie & The Banshees - Hyæna
The The - Dusk
Die Wilde Jagd - s/t
Ochre - Like Dust Of The Balance
Echo & The Bunnymen - Ocean Rain
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
Brand X - Morrocan Roll
Present - Le Poison Quin Rend Fou
Pescado Rabioso - Artaud

re Public Enemy, I’m still a hip hop novice but now and then I like to pick up a classic album in that genre, and “Nation of Millions” was one of those. One funny thing I discovered is that a good friend of mine in the late 90s used to go into a Flavor Flav voice (“yah boyyyy”) all the time which I thought was hilarious but I never knew what he was mimicking until I got the album a few months ago and I started cracking up. “Holy hell, that sounds like Rich!” Lolz
