Alkolea is kinda new wave in that melodic art pop-rock of the early 80s type of manner but with a folky Andalusian touch to the proceedings
Just in case you go into the thing expecting some kind of post-punk album
Colour Haze eh? That may just be another one of those artists that only existed on my deceased external harddrive. I seem to remember listening to that album. Your description makes me miss it.

Samuel: I will give the debut and the new wavy one a shot, thanks man Regarding the latter I am already fairly certain it’ll be cool. Maybe because I already own a few other somewhat obscure albums from either Latin America or the Mediterrenean that succeed in making 80s music come alive. Itoiz’ Alkolea is perhaps one of my favourite records of the sort. I’ll bet you a bag of beets that you will dig it
You need some Kebnekaise in your life other than what jootoob occasionally will offer up. I actually thought about sending you ll but landed on something different

Jim: I’ve seen a couple of those ‘reaction’ vids and some times they truly seem genuine...and well watching an obvious hip hop devotee literally shedding a tear whilst listening to Floyd for the first time...well you have to be a harder man than myself not to feel some sort of warmth and heartfelt appreciation of the true power of music
The Dragon is my favourite Vangelis album. The times I’ve spotted it have been on those nifty two-for-one deals with Hypothesis being the other album. Both of which were albums that never got the get-go from the Greek Maestro himself and obviously never meant for public consumption....but boy am I glad someone thought otherwise
Erpland eh? I love that one. Perhaps my fave alongside Waterfall Cities. The latter is one I’ve been spinning a lot lately. I love the mixture of what almost sound like Goa trance music together with the acoustic instruments. I know a fair few who hate this album and blame the production...which I can sort of relate to and then not really. I feel the meeting of what at the time was highly contemporary production values and those acoustic elements made the sound pop even more than usual. Also helps that the tracks are brilliant

To be honest I can't remember everything I've listened to over the past week or two.  I have been mildly obsessed with watching those dumb "Reaction" youtube videos (the ones that are believable) of the younger generation listening to some of the stuff I grew up with, mostly they only hit the classic rock stuff, only a few Yes and Floyd songs.  Interesting to see some African Americans listening to it.  

Samuel: Yeah I tend to go through phases during the year where I go absolutely crazy for Elephant9 (and Fire! Orchestra for some reason) and right now the surge is strong! I haven’t seen them live either but would love to. Come on..anyone with a passion for talented musicians doing their thang should at least find something interesting in one of the many, surprisingly good sounding, YouTube clips that there are of the band. I’m actually over the moon about the recent two live albums because they free me of the toob....and every time I see one of those clips I instantly start thinking about why it is that I’ve never seen them live So yeah glad about those cds.
I am listening to a lot of Vangelis that I always seem to overlook in favour of fx The Dragon..but man China, Earth, Hypothesis and Blade Runner are all such brilliant and diverse albums that I am falling in love with the Greek maestro once again. Funny how that goes when you neglect to spin albums from certain artists

Sure more Banda Do Casaco! What do you recommend for me? Just a little fyi: I think the yellow conq album is a masterpiece and would love more of that psychedelic yet folky rural vibe.

Steve: It has become something similar to me and I love the fact that you mentioned lullaby. I’ve often thought of it like this experimental musical box album meant for sleepless and abstract thinkers of the night. I certainly prefer to put it on late at night and just let my mind wander off. Also some kosmische sauce going down which I really dig.
Comfort albums eh? Now you’ve got me thinking...but yeah one of em is surely Lucio Battiato’s Anima Latina. If I am experiencing a rough and unfair day, I merely need to spin that sucker to be reminded of beauty, warmth and sunlight.
Freedom’s Goblin! Of course! Thank you very much my good man I knew there was something about those two words but I had them reversed and could not find an album called Goblin’s Freedom here the other day whilst trying to make a wish-list for upcoming orders (uhhh mama, I feel a lot of em coming up with the amount of records I am finding/remembering).
Dungen live album? Now why have I never thought of that? I mean all the gigs I’ve attended of theirs have been absolutely smoking. Odd.

Kebnekaise - ll (I love how you can hear that the guitarists also are fiddle players. Gives off that almost North African Tuareg blues feel to the music)

Genesis - Nursery Cryme (Recently got this on cd..but it’s the 2008 remaster and I honestly haven’t heard the album sound this good before. It’s still raw but not as mushy as I seem to remember my vinyl copy being)
Elephant9 - Psychedelic Backfire ll (The real question concerning this release is whether or not people would have known that the first cut actually is Stevie Wonder’s classic ‘You Are The Sunshine Of My Life’ if it didn’t say on the back-cover?
I have my doubts...but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a brilliant track - it is! Like the soundtrack to a ballet performed by jello and birds)
