Plays for the day that is this.

The Flaming Lips | Clouds Taste Metallic
R. Stevie Moore | What’s the Point?!!
However | Calling
Michael Mantler | Something There
Oregon | In Performance
Oregon | Music of Another Present Era

Anyone remember However? Cool band. Been a long time since I listened to them.

^ It can happen to everyone eventually (as Jon Anderson would say ;) )
Yeah, I'll have to ask him on FB or something. I know he has a new album coming up this year. I did bump into Astrodome at the concert, I could have asked them if their third album was cooking.
I guess it will be the last concert in a while, everything is being canceled but I'm still hopeful about Gouveia Art Rock, the line-up is sweet (Gong, Steve Hillage, Soft Machine).

I hope I won't forget them again, it's very easy without knowing the language. I know träd is tree though.

Thanks for reminding me of Elephant9, I bought Atlantis a couple of years ago and only spun it once Embarrassed

This week:
Bruno Pernadas - How Can We Be Joyful in a World Full of Knowledge?
Jorge Palma - O Lado Errado da Noite

Vangelisday:
China (It started because of the opener's melody in my head)
L'Apocalypse des Animaux (First listen. Such gentle music ^_^)
The Dragon (It was impossible to listen to anything after this epic album)

Eloy - Power and the Passion
David Bowie - Low (All this talk about Bowie reminded me to spin this again. I'm not a fan but this record has some great stuff.)
Arena - Contagion Max (It seemed appropriate :P)
Michael Brückner - Muzikhala (CD3)
Cícero Lee - Those Who Stay

Jore Palma - Quarto Minguante
La Coscienza di Zeno - La Notte Anche di Giorno
Kasabian - Empire
Papir - Stundum

Giant Foriday:
Gentle Giant
Acquiring the Taste
Octopus
The Power and the Glory
Free Hand

In the last few days:
Malady - Toinen Toista (I was still on a Finnish Prog mood ;))
Jorge Palma - Asas e Penas (His most proggy effort after the debut)
Älgarnas Trädgård - Framtiden Är Ett Svävande Skepp, Förankrat I Forntide (It's been so long since I listened to it. It's way trippier than I remembered)
Steven Wilson - Hand Cannot Erase
Landing - Bells in New Towns

I’m sorry Samuel - I completely overlooked your post whilst messaging Steve here the other day. I only read it now
Plantasia in a jazzy way sounds very enticing to these ears - again I wish I’d seen it myself! The fact that it also stayed true to it’s electronic birth...uuuhh mama sounds even more interesting
So err yeah if you ever bump into Bruno, please tell him to release that ASAP. We want it now!

The debut from Älgarnas Trädgård was a nice pick btw (says the guy who recently span it thrice in a single day )
Trippy is the right word, that’s for damn sure. It’s one of my favourite genuine - like in true psychedelic albums. It sends me on a journey every time I spin it.

Been looking for RPI vinyl for the last 10 years...and have found exactly zero! But yeah Battiato on LP..man that is just cool.
Nice Stones pick btw - presumably spurred on by the BJM “knock-off” from the other day?

Yesterday:
Genesis - Nursery Cryme
Xploding Plastix - Amateur Girlfriends Go Proskirt Agents
Picchio Dal Pozzo - Abbiamo Tutti I Suoi Problemi
De Lorians - s/t
David Bowie - Blackstar
Vangelis - Antarctica
Ulver - The Assassination Of Julius Caesar
Ochre - A Midsummer Nice Dream
Cocteau Twins - Blue Bell Knoll
Needlepoint - The Diary Of Robert Reverie
Traffic - Heaven Is In Your Mind
I apologize for showing off, but I’m also not that sorry :D

The Stones pick may have been indirectly influenced by that BJM spin, but I wasn’t thinking of it at the time. Perhaps unconsciously!

Oh geez Blackstar... I STILL have not listened to it even once, despite Debra buying it on the day of release. Why? Originally I was trying to prevent my enjoyment being influenced by the emotions over his death, and now years later, I feel like I’m just seeing how long I can go without hearing it (I do that with movies - the famous movies I’ve never seen would make you gasp). It’s stupid and pointless, and I should be beaten like a gong and run out of town like a diseased rat.
Or I could just listen to the damn thing. But then there’s all those other Bowie albums in the 90s-00s I’ve never heard either. And it’s not even as if I’m the hugest Bowie fan anyway, apart from a few albums. Would I just be hopping on the bandwagon? SHOULD I EVEN BE THINKING LIKE THIS? 🤔

Well, enough cogitating for today. I’ll revisit this thought in the morning.

You have no idea how much I know that feeling
I spent most of the time surrounding the release of Radiohead’s OK Computer ducking every chance I got to actually listen to it...can’t remember the reasons...but surely not as valid as wanting to have somewhat of a clean slate with the album because Thom Yorke had died....but it did colour me and my feelings towards Radiohead. It’s only recently that I have given the band a second chance...and woe and behold if I don’t thoroughly enjoy some of their albums.

Anyway just me being my usually longwinded self trying to get you to taste the asparagus

David, that’s an amazing list of albums. Btw, I received Battiato’s Clic album on vinyl and it’s quickly shot to the top of my favorite albums of late.

Some newly acquired FZ (LA, Sleep Dirt) and McLaughlin vinyl, from a record show trip yesterday, some old punk CDs I haven’t played in a while (The Eat, The Queers), a New Zealand post-punk slowburner I got recently (Dadamah), and other stuff.
The Ariel Pink is not an official release, but a short live set I copied off Youtube many years ago. It contains a non-album EP track that I’ve chosen to be the next Ariel Pink song I cover for Volume 2 of the fan-built AP Tribute album. I did “Butt-House Blondies” a year and a half ago and now I’ve decided to tackle “Flashback”.
Here’s the former in case yr curious : https://arielpinknymphposting.bandcamp.com/track/ra-goat-butthouse-blondies

Rolling Stones | Their Satanic Majesties Request
Dadamah | This is Not a Dream
The Cure | Wish
The Eat | It’s Not the Eat, it’s the Humidity
The Mothers | Just Another Band from L.A.
Frank Zappa | Sleep Dirt
John McLaughlin | Devotion
Dogbowl | Flan
Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti | 4AD Session
The Queers | Grow Up

Grimes - Miss Anthropocene: I understand that she's pregnant with Musk's kid and frequently has her head up the mystic derriere betwixt the Sun Spheres, but that doesn't take away from how cool this album sounds. She's nuts, but she has skillz.

Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten: Death metal classic from '91, arguably the best year for death metal in terms of quality and development. Also cool to throw this at folks trashin' xtreme metal as white music. a true melting pot, as death don't play favorites.

Blood Ceremony - Lord of Misrule: doom-rock with metal, psyche and folk influences. Like modern Opeth but catchy and fun.

Asobi Seksu - Hush: A dreampop beauty.

Slowdive - Souvlaki: One of those 'panned on release' albums that eventually became deemed a masterpiece by critics, including from the same rags that wrote them off in the first place. Basically a shoegaze staple.

Blood Incantation - Hidden History of the Human Race: Proggy death metal, but VERY much death metal. Long tunes, but damn they never get boring, and the growls are pretty ace. I dig.

Ani DiFranco - Out of Range: I remember when she was huge in the 90's among angry chicks. Her vocals had this occasional warble-vibrato that would bug me when she went full-tilt into it, but her castrating lyrics and killer guitar-playing always won me over, and this album is the best I've heard from her.

Charli XCX - Charli: Heard this on the flight back from my week long trip to Sedona, Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. I could hang in Sedona. It's like Salem MA but with less witch stuff and better scenery.
