It’s sorta like proto ambient whilst still coming off really interesting. Serene, beautiful and very nature-like in it’s expression. A great Vangelis album for pure relaxation
Yeah I added two spoons of honey to the old ears as well..by way of Floyd.
I think I am going to keep it near the cd-player - just to spin it more often. Two times inside a time frame of two days is...well quite frequently compared to the last time around.

Yesterday:
Susanne Sundfør - The Brothel
Semiramis - Dedicato a Frazz
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Gumboot Soup
Fleet Foxes - Crack-Up
OOIOO - Gold & Green
Nosferatu - s/t
Roxy Music - Stranded
Edgar Broughton Band - Inside Out
Curtis Mayfield - Superfly
Sly & The Family Stone - Stand!
Bennie Maupin - Jewel In The Lotus

Yeah I haven't listened to them in eons, made me feel young again...and old at the same timeLOL
I'm sure that Bad Brains album would do the same.

Beach House - Teen Dream: Total dream pop. It took a second listen to feel the magic, but it won me over.
Yo La Tengo - Fade: "Ohm" is dope! While listening to "I'll Be Around" I couldn't help but suddenly feel like I was listening to post-Barrett/pre-DSOTM Floyd.
Bauhaus - In the Flat Field: One of the best openings of an album ever. Side A owns.
Belle & Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress: Cool indie for smartypants types. I can be smart, and I occasionally wear pants so I totally dig it.
Lee Jung Hyun - Let's Go To My Star: Trance music from the late 90's with a wild feral female Korean singer.
agree on that Yo La song. I need to relisten to the rest of the album. That was right around the time i was starting to lose interest in them but that first song is definitely the type of song that I always look for on a YLT album.

Double Dare by Bauhaus has one of my favorite song intros. Is it a downtuned guitar or bass? Maybe Ash snd J are both playing bass. They did it on L&R’s “No Big Deal” too. But then what about those spidery guitar noises on top?

Me today:

Soft Machine | Seven
Thee Oh Sees | Orc
Swans | leaving meaning.
Swans | The Glowing Man
Sonic Youth | Sonic Death: Early Live Sonic
Thrilled Skinny | It’s a Good Doss
Genesis | Trespass
Hawkwind | In Search of Space
Algiers | The Underside of Power

Btw Samuel: how did you get on with Obscured By Clouds?
I literally just span the 2016 remaster here the other day as it is a part of the new archival releases. I’m not sure why but I am always blown away by how much I love that album....and then go a year or two between spinning it
I really dig the slow ooze of that album and the way it just seems to waft gently over you like a summerbreeze.
*makes mental note of spinning Obscured By Clouds when he gets home*

Swirlies - They Spent Their Wild Youthful Days in the Glittering World of the Salons: Long title, awesome album. Shoegaze/post-punk/noise rock. Such a wild ride.

The Cure - Three Imaginary Boys: Twitchy, nervy post-punk. Pretty sparse-sounding, no keys as far as I remember. "Subway Song" has that hilarious ending. Holy crap!

Bat For Lashes - The Bride: I heard this wasn't so good so I put it off until recently. Lo and behold, I plyed it and consider it one of her best.

Bat For Lashes - Lost Girls: Saw her in concert last week. Great intimate show in which she talked about each song before playing it. Just her and another woman, both on keys. She's quite a good live singer.

Angel Olsen - My Woman: Never liked this but I keep trying. Now I'm at least getting into some of the later tracks by skipping the first half.

Megadeth - So Far So Good So What: The 2004 remix & remastered version is crap. These songs need that original big 80's snare hits and reverb to give 'em that boomin' sound.

Yumi Zouma - Willowbank: So much careful studio structuring down to minute details. Almost sounds overproduced in a sense; it sounds so perfect. Kinda samey after awhile.

Incantation - Mortal Throne of Nazarene: These guys are from the NY area, and yet their album title sounds like some Japanese visual kei release. Was that intentional, or are they just a bit dumb...

DRI - Dealing With It: Not as wild as their debut, but still super wild. "Couch Slouch" is an alltime fav.

^ You’re pretty much right about live Cure, though it can be a treat to hear some of those atmospheric pieces in “raw” form, without the effects of production (kinda like the studio/live comparison of Joy Division) . Yet they still can fill out the sound without that production - e.g. “A Forest” doesn’t sound as introverted and reflective, but sounds just as massive and majestic; and then tunes like “The Walk” which were very synth-centric sound a bit different on stage, and not in a bad way. On the other hand, some of the songs do sound a bit weaker in live format (Shake Dog Shake, One Hundred Years). But overall it’s one of my favorite periods in the Cure’s history So it’s good to have.

Kiss Alive! was one of the first cd’s I bought with my own money...or well it was surely part of the first 20. I still think most folks that deem Kiss to be a sort of charicature band owe it to themselves to listen to this. It’s only rock n roll but it kicks arse!
Ace Frehley wasn’t completely void of skills either. I really dig the closer of cd 1 ‘She’ and the way the guitar riffs intertwine in this almost cacophonous burst of energy. Just beautiful.
I have honestly never heard anything live from The Cure...and I am generally a live guy. Just never seemed like a ‘live-band’ to me if that makes any sort of sense.

Yesterday:
Black Mountain - In The Future (Finally found this!! Was searching for it here the other day to no avail. Still their best together with IV imho.)
De Lorians - s/t (This is just so incredibly invigorating of an album! Sort of like Duke Ellington Band on shrooms doing a Canterbury inspired session)
Edgar Broughton Band - Wasa Wasa
Loosense - Saloon
F*ck Buttons - Tarot Sport
Funkadelic - Cosmic Slop
Nil - Quarante Jours Sur Le Sinai
Pond - Tasmania
Tangerine Dream - Green Desert (Their best 80s album...from the 70s!)
Dzyan - Time Machine (I saw you listening to the debut Samuel - have you checked out their following records?)

I love that Kiss album btw. Those two live albums are the bee’s knees. Their studio work though I can take or leave.
That may be one of the first times I’ve ever intentionally listened to Kiss. But I have that record and was in the mood. No matter how you feel about Kiss, that’s one fine hard rock record.

Nice call on Seventeen Seconds btw. I had some early Cure in my recent listening too (the ‘84 live album).

Today:

Fastball | The Harsh Light of Day
Thin Lizzy | Night Life
The Olivia Tremor Control | Black Foliage: Animation Music
The Flaming Lips | s/t EP
The Flaming Lips | Hear it Is
The Damned | Damned but not Forgotten
The Brian Jonestown Massacre | My Bloody Underground
Red House Painters | Ocean Beach
Rope | Heresy, and then Nothing but Tears
