Roger Payne, Scientist, Conservationist and first person to bring recordings of Whale song to the wider world has died age 88. He produced the extremely popular lp 'Song of the Whale' in 1970 which helped galvanise the ecology movement around the world, better understand, appreciate and conserve world Whale stocks, helping save them from the brink of extinction. The lp has been name checked by numerous artists (Jon Anderson, Tangerine Dream to name two) over the years as an inspiration.

hI,

She was/is, along with some of the huge names in Brazilian music, a special one. Still played a lot!

I always thought she lived in South America somewhere.  Then I read that she may have passed away in Narberth, PA, which is approximately 15 miles from where I live.

'Thank Christ for the bomb' and the '2 sides of' lps were probably his creative zenith and said a lot about the man rather than just the (devoted and truly skilled) Bluesman guitarist. Lovely, touching tribute John... thanks  Clap

Had a couple of beers, span 'Thank Christ for the Bomb' really loud, shed a few tears; more at just how good a guitarist he was and what a damn fine rock band they were.. surely the term 'Power Trio' was invented to describe them?? It was probably for 'Cream' but in my view the Groundhogs out-gunned them by a long way..

RIP Tony, love the early Groundhogs albums particularly Split & Thank God For The Bomb. Had a pretty unique sound and approach. Saw the Groundhogs live in Newcastle in the early 80's, they were excellent.

I remember an old hippy playing me The Two Side Of Tony (T.S) McPhee when I was around 16. The Hunt blew me away. It was one of my early CD purchases when released.

RIP Tony.
Thank you for supporting independently produced music

R.I.P. Astrud Gilberto.  Most known as the girl who sung and made famous the song "The Girl from Ipanema".  A massive pop hit song in 1964.

There is many thoughts and emtions running through my mind when i think of Tina. Try to put her in a historical context. The only other artist i can compare her to is Aretha Franklin. On the humanitarian level. Tina makes me become a believer in girl power, and of liberty.
