Thank you, Icarium, for your comment on GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD. It seems like Sir Elton doesn't get many props these days, but he and Bernie Taupin were brilliant songwriters back then. There were so many varying influences in their music, and that's what keeps GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD interesting all the way through. In 2018, many record companies would add filler to stretch an album out to 85 minutes, so that they could charge the consumer extra for 2 CDs.

Indeed some of my favourites too... some of them I don't like so very much, but have some very good moments at least. Six Wives, Journey, Arthur and Criminal Record are all great for me. Return to the Center of the Earth and Retro have some really outstanding moments, but I don't think they are as great as the previous ones (from the "newer" albums, I liked "Out There better than this two... just in case you haven't heard it, you may find it interesting). I've just got "No Earthly Connection" a few weeks ago... but I'm afraid I was a bit disapointed (I felt it was a bit patchy... though it's got some very good moments too, anyway). From the 70's, I still haven't heard White Rock (only some songs, perhaps I'll try to get it later on). I think I was interested in getting Romance on the Victorian Age, but haven't done so yet... I'm guessing you find it very recommendable. I haven't heard Black Knights, but I have Stella Bianca alla Corte di Re Ferdinand (which I understand has a very similar sound), and I really liked it a lot... it may not have any particular peak, but it's all pretty good and pleasant to listen, so I'm also somewhat interested in getting Black Knights.

Some other albums that I think have at least some very good songs are: A Suite of Gods, Phantom Power, Can you Hear me?, and Songs of Middle Earth (so, though I don't know it, I'm guessing I would enjoy 7 Wonders of the World, for as far as I understand, it's just about the same album).

In your selections, I think that Physical Graffitti would be my favourite. Tommy (particularly) and The White Album are even so great, but The Wall is rather similar to a bad album.

One of the first excellent double album which come directly to my mind is Kobaïa, a perfect zeuhl mix between RIO and jazz

Yeah Wakeman isn't who I had in mind when I made that statement, and also considering some of the music he's made later in his career his word is by no means final.

I think a huge reason Wakeman disliked that album is because his songwriting contributions had become very minimal compared to the previous albums, this was Jon and Steve's project, and they never disowned it.

Besides, my comment was referring to punk fans who ALWAYS reference this album whenever they rant about prog and how it's wrongly considered one of the worst prog albums only by people who know f*ck all about prog.

Way to completely miss the point of what I was saying, this is by no means your first time. It certainly won't be the last.

Well, I consider it a terrible album, with slightly over average 40 minutes of music, and the rest if filler, so your expression also affects all of us who don't believe Tales is a brilliant album.

I reply to what you write, I can't read your mind about who you were referring ot who you claim you were referring.

About Wakeman: Yes he made less than brilliant albums due to a bad contract with A&M that forced him to release a series of albums in order to survive, but he created at least 10 masterpieces and 10 excellent albums, something with what most musicians can only dream.

Wakeman's comment was explained by him on a Creem Interview:

WAKEMAN: I love Yes dearly, but I didn't enjoy Topographic Oceans. At the time I actually said it was an over-padded pile of shit. Those were the days when things were very black and white; we weren't mature enough to sit down and discuss things.

The truth of the matter is, I still don't like the album. There's a lot of very good things on it; there's some very good moments on it. But there's tons of padding. When we went in to do it, we had too much material for a single album. So you either made it into a double album—which means write a lot more stuff—or you just reduce the size and make it into a single album. The fact of life is, we went the wrong route and we didn't have any other material. So there was padding for days on it. And Yes had never done that and I really objected to it. Vehemently objected to it.
