He really was one of our best.  There are VERY few actors/actresses out there that I give two sh*ts about....people whose presence would actually make me go out of my way to see a film.  Hoffman was one who did make you go out of your way....you knew he was going to be interesting no matter what the film was like. 

So sad to lose another to drugs.  Especially when he had three little ones at home. 

Everyone has their favorite and he won awards for some of his higher profile roles.  But my fave was a lesser known film called "Owning Mahowny" where he played a banker with a terrible gambling problem.  But truly I enjoyed all of his films.
