Since those 90's bands were included, I voted for other prog metal.
Either A.C.T. (pop metal?), Pain of Salvation or Spastic Ink.
Of the 70's bands, I think Yes or Gentle Giant made the largest
number of great records during the 70's, but I think Crimson have made
more great records over the years, so it depends on the definition.
Best prog band during the 70's or best prog band FROM the 70's?

Well, since Pink Floyd really got me into the whole genre, my vote goes to them.

Ummm...right now my favorite is Soft Machine (pretty odd for an 18 year old). I'm trying to get all of their studio albums, although it is nearly impossibe because some of them are out of print and veryyyy expensive (ex: Bundles, i have heard it is the best later-day, although I have the Softs on lp and I cannot stop listening to it, especially side 2)
But like everyone else i do love Genesis a lot. They were one of my first introductions to prog, along with Yes.

Yes.
With Genesis as close second.
The only bands I know which made no bad album at all in the seventies.
