btw for some reason Macula Transfer is not on the recent Virgin box set release of Edgar Froese solo work covering 1974 - 1983. Know why that is?

I see you've got Virgin Years 74-83, and that should cover more or less every essential album relevant to your tastes. Ecept Green Desert. Its supposedly recorded in 1973 (and not released until 1986) but sounds like its from 1975. |

All of Edgar's solo albums up through 1983 were released on Virgin, and IMO are better than Aqua. This includes Macula Transfer Epsilon In Malaysian Pale Ages Stuntman (my personal favorite) Pinnacles Edgar recorded a new solo several years back called Dalinetopia. It's okay, but not like the good ol' days.

The problem with me for these early Tangerine Dream albums isn't their length (hell, I can listen to Zeit all the way through any day of the week), it's that it is music that makes me invest my thought. The sounds trigger such a deep trance it is scary in a way, it changes my emotions like no other music does. In a way, that is awesome, but it is also scary.

I like The Sorcerer soundtrack.
Edgar Froese's Aqua was recorded at the time of the Virgin-era TD, can anyone tell me how it compares? |

Yes, absolutely. The TD collection on Spotify is rather vast, and I have also had a long couple of listens.

This thread has prompted me to select all of the TD albums available on Spotify (which seems to be pretty much all of them) and put them onto a playlist. For the last couple of days I have had this playlist running on shuffle for hours at a time.
I would like to retract the rather ill-informed statement I made in an earlier post about a lot of latter-day TD music being bland muzak. In fact, on the contrary, the vast amount of music I have heard over the last couple of days has been consistently good. I would recommend Spotify as a great way of checking out the vast TD catalogue.

Years ago I was given some TD suggestions. I have Cyclone which I love dearly. Rubycon is only soso for me... i can listen to it as background but can't loose myself to it. I have heard Pheadra and was similarly underimpressed with it. So the suggestions I got centered around which TD albums featured the most electric guitar which is the part of Cyclone that sends me. So I lost the damn list before I acted on it. Can yawl help me re create it? I love that burning intense guitar feel of cyclone and would love to hear a bit more if it. Thanks all.

Well you're either gonna have to change the name of this one or start a new thread quick , before this takes off!

I certainly would. Now I have started on the TD journey, I am interested in what people would recommend elsewhere in the sub-genre.

I'm in favor of this. I've been thinking about starting a prog electronic appreciation thread but I wasn't sure if anyone would contribute. Should I go for it?
