Topic: Pain of Salvation or The Mars Volta Posted: July 29 2005 at 15:03 |
These are two groups who I think progress beyond the music of the 70's, the two bands who I truly believe are progressive in the true sence of the word. But instead of praising them, let's put them to competition with each other and trash the reputation of the one we like the lease. That's the American way to do it .

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

PoS, despite their pretentious, brooding angsty name

I'm gonna break the mold and say TMV. POS, while very creative, never really did it for me. Then again, I've not heard much POS, but from what I've heard, I wasn't very Impressed.

POS to me; their music is more interesting, their conceptual ideas are more clever, their prog style is more versatile, last but not least, their capability as performers is more impressive, both individually and when interacting with each other.
Regards.

I burst out laughing when I read this, nearly fell off my chair. You haven't even listened to TMV, have you?

I don't want to criticize the American way ... but in this case, I prefer the "hippie way": I love them both. Pain of Salvation has much more talent in epic songwriting and the better musicians, so my vote goes to Pain of Salvation - by a MILE.

TMV - they seem more daring and their music affects me more.

I had to vote since it was 12-12. I can't have the Mars Volta be beating PoS. It's insulting.
