I have observed that people have to have a dose of negativity. Least liked/worsed/suckiest threads always last much longer than favorite/best threads and polls. People seem to enjoy getting their negativity out on genres they don't like(which actually translates to don't know as it's impossible to dislike a whole sub genre - there's always a band you will like).
