Assaf, I recently bought Ainur's debut. It's a good album inspired by The Silmarillion and if you like other works like Mandalaband's The Eye of Wendor you will be pleased. The general mood is commercial-new-ageish but the addition of typical 70s keyboards (moog and hammond) make it an interesting album not to mention some more harder parts in a more symphonic structure. Lyrics are sung in english.

Erik recommended this to me last year before he got tired of me making fun of him and stopped talking to me Great album with some interesting RPI covers (not to mention the others covers of ELP, Trace, and Rick Wakeman) covers of PFM, Banco, and Balletto di Bronzo.. great stuff (there there's ELP's Toccata.. wow hahhaha)
|
Not yet Sr., which Wakeman cover? , i`ve seen Erik and you love that album, so it must be a jewel, though. |
Amazing Keyboard album!!!
I like the version of l'Evoluzione of Banco

Hi all,
I would like to recommend the inclusion of the italian band Madrugada. They only released two albums between 1974 and 1977. I've just bought their second one titles "Incastro". It's one of the most crazy records I've ever heard!!!
The general mood of the album is avantguard but you also find a folk composition based on vocals (typical singing from the italian alps in dialect), a jazzy composition, an ethno percussions based (with vocal noises) experiment, a more conventional track with the help of Lucio Fabbri (ex PFM) on violin, an indo-prog raga-rock introduction for the song Katmandu, a more cosmic avantguard feel in the opener...what more a prog aficionado could ask for????
This is another worthy addition and I'm proud they're italian....
The album has been recently reissued by BTF in elegant papersleeve edition within three bonus tracks (three live versions). Highly recommended for all the avantguard prog fans!!!!
An impressive record for me also! Crazy and eclectic!

that sounds like a hell of an album....
I've been getting into the avant stuff out the 70's Italian scene... great great stuff.. I'll look for this one as well. *puts on shopping list*
|
Well, I heard of them, but not them and after reading this, i am more than interested.
By the way, Italian friends, if it is Italian Avant you like, then for a modern band, go for Yugen (read my review if you like).
Oh and what about Braen's Machine and their unstable releases? Any thoughts of where to put them?
