if you wanna try post-rock (might be a stretch), f#a#infinity is one of the most desolate albums ever recorded. In fact, Godspeed You! Black Emperor (with the exception of parts on Lift your Skinny Fists) is a pretty bleak band across the board.

Both CDs by Blackfield should do well as a shoulder to cry on. Lotsa stuff about relationships along with excellent music and vocals.

You need Leonard Cohen. Badly. Also, "collapse the light into earth" by Porcupine tree and "La Rossa" by VDGG.
But really, you should get some Leonard Cohen. Especially "Songs of Love and Hate", it is dark. Dark. Not even Bj's dark chamber prog recommendations can measure up to the darkness of Leonard Cohen when he really gets down to it.

"Over" by Peter Hammill is THE album for you, though it looks at a relationship from its end, while yours has not even started. but the general feeling is pretty much the same

I agree with the Pain of Salvation - Remedy Lane recommendation. That's about the best you can do.
If I may say a select few songs,
Dream Theater - "Space-Dye Vest"
U2 - "One"
Queen - "Too Much Love Can Kill You"

Yes. Can't do better than that.
VDGG come close though. Another great band that has written songs that fit exactly what I feel. Perhaps H To He...or Still Life tp begin.
Peter Hammill also fits the bill.

I am in a situation where I like this girl a lot, but she doesnt like me. I need some albums that reflect these feelings. They dont have to be progressive at all, just quiet, and depressing like some singer/songwriter thing possibly. Thanks
