i am native Italian but, unfortunately, not  so incredible in english! But I'll try:

^ Jim, I've just ordered the latest Latte E Miele cd - Marco Polo. I would have got it ages ago but for some reason it seems very expensive (19 euros) compared to the usual prices I pay so I've been hunting around and waiting to see if I could find it cheper anywhere. No luck and in the end I just paid it.

Oooh, that's a nice one Paul.  Not as stunning as Passio in my book, but very good.  It was an oddly expensive disc,  not sure why.   I think you'll love it!

Today's vault is an important early RPI title, I just played it.  Wonderful.

4 stars I saw this recording on some Italian prog site where it was listed in the top 20 of all time so i decided to check it out.I kept reading how this is one of the earliest RPI albums, and i must admit when i see the word "Proto" anything i'm a little wary of getting it because i've been let down so many times before with such bands.Well lets just say that i can appreciate now why this is so highly respected.I just love the way this band sounds especially the heavier sections. "La Paura" opens with these high pitched frequencies followed by wind-like sounds.It kicks in before a minute with vocals as the wind continues.Nice.A great heavy sound with organ is the result.The tempo picks up after 2 minutes.Killer track. "Un Re Senza Reame" opens with drums and organ with the vocals to follow.Some vocal melodies a minute later. Vocal melodies and a dark sound come in quickly on "Un Uomo",then it settles with vocals.I like the drum/organ section 2 1/2 minutes in and the guitar that follows.Vocals are back before 4 minutes. "Scacco Al Re lot" is complex with lots of tempo changes.Great tune. "Il Vento,La Luna E Pulcini Blu" is the longest track at 10 minutes.Lots of harpsichord in this one.Check out the bass before 2 1/2 minutes.This song is an understated beauty.And the guitar 8 minutes in has the same tone as what we hear on OPETH's "Damnation" record.That was the first thing i thought of after hearing this section for the first time. "Waiting" opens in a similar way as the first track with those high pitched sounds shooting around.Banging sounds on this one too.It kicks in after a minute as we get a nice heavy sound with some fantastic guitar. Easily 4 stars and an album that will get lots of play from yours truly.

Some of my favorite descriptions of the album....

"Combining elements of Italian folk, circus, hard rock, Baroque church music, jazz, classical, and a good dose of insanity, Dedicato A Frazz pounds every sense, challenges every synapse in a flurry of ideas. After literally hundreds of listens, I still hear a different album each time. There is no weak link, no attempt at copying others works, no tries at banal commercialism. Just uninhibited reckless abandon of the imagination combined with musical expertise. Most tracks have a few hundred ideas and change moods faster than a bipolar woman left in the cold. Acoustic moments are quickly offset by heavy electric ones. Quiet moments of solitude are blasted away by militaristic might. It's never enough to have one striking contrast. No, Semiramis pile it on from every angle. Synths go awry, voices scream, guitars go a hundred miles a second, drums jettison you across the room. How could a group compose so many ideas? Take some of Osanna's frantic, lacking-in-respect asylum-RPI with their peculiar love for sudden changes in tempo and style, some of PFM's acoustic sensibility and the usual keyboard lushness (and fondness for unique sounds from those instruments) of the sub-genre to get a feeling of roughly how this record sounds, only to later sit through the surprise of how unique this record feels. ^ Great descriptions indeed. Even though there is a lot going on I didn't find it difficult at all as a lot of the reviews stated, maybe that's cause I listen to Avant-Prog all the time. I really like the flow of the album, it grabs you by the balls and never lets go. LOL Pretty blown away by it.

I'm listening to Le Orme's Uomo di Pezza now. Two RPI albums in a row! Shocked New record for me.

Cool, make sure to start with "Palepoli."

Rocky's Filj is pretty intense insanity with brass, Festa is piano heavy but bold, and Paradiso is pretty "out there" as I recall.
