Ok Iike here is my opinion on two albums I think prog fans should discover one is a classic album the other isan album that is brand spanking new
the classic album is
Babe Ruth - first base   :came out in 1972, first edt. was on Harvest records. this is not only an excellent  prog album from the '70's but Babe Ruth's only good album ,(though they have a recent album that just came out after 30 years that I haven't listen to yet) , Babe ruth never was able to recover from the flop that was their second album, all theirs fans droped them when they heard the crap that was the 2nd album But let me remind you that "first base" is among the five best albums from the '70's prog or not. Babe Ruth tried to recover with the third and forth album , which contained some good songs but the dammage of the second album was to big ,Babe ruth wasn't able to recover and gain again all their fans back.

the second album I wanna to talk about is "Hamadyrad - Intrusion"  their third album came out in march of this year, the songs "pray my god"  ,"In my country"  and "sentence" are worth the price just by themself in fact the other songs are good also but different in the sense that the three I mention are softer and remind me a lot of some songs by Genesis from the lamb lies on broadway era the other songs are more  like Karmakanic Kinda of  the only song I'm not warm too is the song "lost"  which the seems to be the  song the band is pushing the most on youtube   Clap

Hello,

I want to introduce you to an Argentinian prog artist named Rodrigo San Martín, he's debut album "1" is an album length track played, composed, produced, mixed and mastered by himself. It's also the first Argentinean album available for 5.1 Surround.

Download:

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=99945835c4068628b64026cfc061123698842e5df698ffa2f7e866bfb1230ce0

.
Band bio:

Rodrigo San Martín (born 8/14/88) is an Argentinian multi-instrumentalist musician and composer, best known as the founder, lead guitarist and main songwriter of progressive rock band De Rien. He's involved in a duet with guitarist Juan Manuel Torres called Souls Ignite and a solo career.

He works a style that blends Progressive Rock, Pop/Rock, Funk/Rock, Classical music, Ambient and Jazz fusion.

His music is often elaborate and complex in nature, featuring elements such as complex time signatures and dynamic contrast, but always with a strong melodic develpment. As a guitar player he stands out for his style, a blend between jazz scales and improvisation played with a rock feeling, and his acoustic guitar playing, highly influenced by Classical Guitar.

He's debut album is a concept piece simply named "1" which consists of an album length song composed, played in every instrument, produced, mixed and mastered by himself. It's a landmark in Argentinian rock by being the first album to be available for 5.1 Surround sound. The album's lead single is called Phase 7.

At the same time, De Rien's and Souls Ignite's debut albums are in the recording process and will be released independently during the first half of 2010.

Discography:

- Phase 7 Single (2010):

1) Phase 7 (Single edit) (3:54)
2) Circe (Alternate take) (2.02)
3) Blues in E (7:02)

- "1" (2010)
1) "1" (39:12)

Lately I came across a fantastic one man project by Michael S. Judge working under the name Sinthome. He recently released an album called Ficciones. Listen here:
http://www.myspace.com/sinthometheband

If you like it, it's available for download only through ReR USA and iTunes.

His myspace bio:
Sinthome is the ongoing project of the American musician/writer Michael S. Judge, born in Kansas City, MO (where he contributed, in some degree, to the local DIY scene before its degeneration into the present hipster commodity morass) and currently living in Denton, TX. Sinthome's second LP, entitled FICCIONES and featuring a guest appearance by Jacob Holm-Lupo of White Willow and Opium Cartel fame, is currently in the final stages of completion & looking for a label. The previous album, A WOMAN HAS GIVEN BIRTH TO A CALF'S HEAD, received positive notices from Chris Cutler (Henry Cow, Art Bears, News from Babel) and Brian Godding (Blossom Toes, Keith Tippett's Centipede) among others.

I recommend:
Kingston Wall, from Finland! It's not entirely prog rock, but it's still an awesome band. Wish the singer wouldn't have committed suicide so they could have made more albums Unhappy
