The difference is stunning. And my point of reference has been a deluxe German vinyl pressing that was the best at the time. I'll probably spring for Lark's Tongues and Starless when they are done, but I'm resisting the entire catalogue. First, I never owned them on vinyl (at least, I did once and gave them away because I'm rather indifferent to those albums) and second, I just can't spend the bucks all that wildly. |

Who's going to the RAH next week then? Anyone without a ticket should be aware that a load more have just been made available. Go to the official RAH site to purchase. Oh and I fully expect a MASSIVE in-depth review (please) LOL.
It's my Birthday Tuesday, and I am away in Ireland unfortunatley (booked before the gig was announced).

I've had Court Of & Red for a while now. The difference in sound quality is astounding and the extras are great too. I recieved In the Wake of Poseidon & Islands on Monday but haven't had a chance to listen to them yet

Wow man, fantastic. Thanks for sharing!
That's how I remember PT when I first saw them performing around the corner where I live... back in 1996, at Utrecht's Tivoli-venue, where I was entirely *blown away* by them. ![]() Edited by Antennas - October 03 2010 at 17:52 |

just found this gem while wasting my precious time doing useless stuff on the world wide web:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_y6yNvNkNk (part one of six) the sound quality is not good but still cool. steven has pretty long hair, shame he cut it ![]() |

BTW, I don't know if these have been posted over here before (sorry, no time to check out all of 43 pages!)but apparently, Steven has been doing some 'Dump-That-Stuff-On-The-Net' lately:
A new song, due for his upcoming solo-album?
Here's the lovely, gentle http://beta.wnyc.org/shows/soundcheck/articles/web-extras/2010/sep/21/exlusive-track-steven-wilson/ "Home in Negative" -
and here we have some very experimental, drone-y, psychedelic 'soundscapes' -http://soundcloud.com/steven-wilson/tracks "Tape Experiments 1985-1986", which he apparently put together when he was still a little puppy. Nice to hear a lot of rough early material that very much resembles his later Bass Communion-work.
For those of you who are in need of some Musical Rohypnol, LOL. Enjoy!

PT and SW get name dropped on the new Albert Hall Opeth DVD! Mikael, after playing The Moor (its an awesome gig, by my other favourite modern band, BTW) says that during the Still Life period, he got an email from Steven Wilson (a name which is met with rapturous applause from the audience). SW said in the mail he was a big Opeth fan. And Mikael, vice versa (big PT fan). So 'we got together, had dinner, wine... kissed (laughter!) and decided to work together!'

Yup, didn't see the point in getting 1/2 of a double album ![]() It's annoying that they split them up on iTunes though, I ended up spending twice as much as I was expecting to ![]() |
