Why not more ratings for Gentle Giant albums?

Well I still maintain that they are one of the most well known and most respected of the lesser known. Today I was at a prog function and pretty much everyone there knew who they were and was a fan. This was mainly older fans too that I talked to not that it makes that much of a difference. They are a band that pretty much every real prog fan at least knows of. But yeah outside of prog circles not so much.

I was a kid in the 70's and even when I rediscovered prog in the late 80's it still took another 5 years or so until I found Gentle Giant listed in a dealers list. This would of been somewhere in the mid 90's.They are also in my (personal)top 10 favorite bands today but according to several articles they pretty much went unnoticed in their own country during their hay-day. Such a pity as the band really did deserve many more people to take notice of them. To me they seemed to be a band that hovers just under the radar that only people interested in older music or loves progressive rock will ever encounter.

^ though I'd add that [signed] bands who were less well-known than GG would be a bigger list

I disagree but it depends on who we are comparing them to. Are they as well known as YES, Genesis or KC? No.

Hi all, this is my first post here--I am a looooong time progressive rock lover, and for some reason haven't even considered making my entry here. I am a progressive musician and composer as well.

OK. I like both ELP and GG. Both great bands and ultimately that's all that matters.
