If you're in a good mood today, I'd hate to see you in a bad mood. ![]() Here's some Electro-Dance-Pop for you in the style of Theatre of Tragedy..... |

That may be so, but it still doesn't change the fact that Theatre of Tragedy's "Let You Down" video reminds me of Madonna.

when you call a genre "dance", it's music meant for dancing exclusively which is not the case with TOT, it's what i meant to say. Dance music is also happy music which again, not the case with goth bands.

^ Well. you did say it was Synth-Pop/Electronic, or simply Electropop, or even Electronic Dance Pop to put it another way, so there you go.

I can't stand Madonna. Never did, I think I find two of her songs listenable. Not exactly dance pop the TOT song, it's not exclusively meant for dancing. It's synth pop influenced, i explained what it is in my earlier post.

The video reminds me of Madonna because "Let You Down" sounds like a curious hybrid of Gothic Metal and Dance-Pop, which isn't such a tragedy as I'm a big fan of Madonna too.

urgh, how is it reminding you of Madonna? ![]() This sound is called electro-goth, darkwave-gothic. Also Liv Kristine is a better singer than Madonna ever was.

^ I'll give Theatre of Tragedy a listen, starting with the song below, which reminds me of Madonna for some strange reason. I knew Liv Kristine wouldn't let me down.

I'm not sure how the first two Theatre of tragedy will go with you because there are growls, yet it's melodic music. The contrast of the gentle and extreme vocals is done right. But Aegis especially should please you, they gave up on the extreme vocals and the male vocals are clean. They also released two synth-pop/darkwave/electronic albums, last two with Liv on vocals. Quite a shocking change of style for many, yet not bad on their own.

Thanks for the info. It's a tragedy I didn't know Liv Kristine had performed in so many bands, including Theatre of Tragedy.

^ I thought Leaves' Eyes was the band that made Liv Kristine famous, so I just learned something new today.

Not what I meant. "Beauty and the beast" means the music features a female vocalist, gentle, angelic - beauty and the beast means male vocals, they can be clen but also extreme (raspier, growly). Early 90s gothic-doom bands experimented with that until later on it became a thing. An album you would probably enjoy is Théâtre of Tragedy - Aegis from 1998. It's the band that made Liv Kristine famous, but then again TOT is one of the most influential bands for both gothic metal and symphonic metal.

I don't hear any beauty in Therion's debut and it's not remotely symphonic. It's just beastly.

Maybe you wanted to say this, but it came out wrong (and it did for me). Also Therion's debut is not the opposite end of symphonic metal. Maybe some beauty and the beast type of symphonic gothic.

You're focusing on the negative again. My original point was that Kingfisher Sky are surprisingly gentle and melodic and altogether more listenable than some of the noisier bands I've heard at the opposite end of the Symphonic Metal spectrum.

^ Therion's debut was the first Death Metal album I've ever listened to, and it'll most likely be the last Death Metal album I ever listen to, till deaf us do part.

I know you dislike it, I don't even know why you listened to it in the first place when you were warned it's a death metal album.
