The selections in this poll series are collected from the Rate Your Music all-genres/all-time music chart, and I have included only ones that are in Prog Archives Prog categories other than the Traffic and Steeleye Span with are in Prog Related at PA -- I have known fans of those at this site who I expect would appreciate having those included. The numbers beside the albums show the chart position at RYM. Please vote for a favourite and mention that and any others that you find particularly notable in a post.

If you notice any mistakes, then please point them out to me before voting if it affects your vote. Just two more after this, and I want to do both of those tomorrow because I like to get things finished that I start (I'm not too impatient to browse through thousands of album collecting ones that fit in one night, but to extend this series for another two or three days to get to the end, heck yeah! ;)

Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band - Lick My Decals Off, Baby (2398)
Gojira - The Way of All Flesh (2478)
Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Nightingales & Bombers (2481)
The Soft Machine - Volume Two (2484)
Cult of Luna - Salvation (2489)
Grobschnitt - Solar Music: Live (2492)
Steeleye Span - Hark! The Village Wait (2507) - in Prog Related at PA
Traffic - John Barleycorn Must Die (2513) - in Prog Related at PA
Ved Buens Ende..... - Written in Waters (2514)
Current 93 - All the Pretty Little Horses (2524)

Cardiacs - On Land and in the Sea (2531)
Hawkwind - Doremi Fasol Latido (2549)
Manuel Göttsching - Inventions for Electric Guitar (2566)
Dissolution - Back to Times of Splendor (2567)
Billy Cobham - Spectrum (2572)
Colosseum - Valentyne Suite (2584)
Spacemen 3 - The Perfect Prescription (2592)
Klaus Schulze - Timewind (2594)

Focus - Focus 3 (2611)
Boredoms - Super æ (2620)

My top 10 are:

Popol Vuh - In den Gärten Pharaos
Klaus Schulze - Timewind
Cardiacs - On Land and in the Sea
The Soft Machine - Volume Two
Current 93 - All the Pretty Little Horses

Geinoh Yamashirogumi - Ecophony Rinne
Colosseum - Valentyne Suite
Caravan - For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night
Focus - Focus 3
Grobschnitt - Solar Music: Live

It's mostly between my top 4 above now. Thought I would go Popul Vuh or Timewind, but no, today I'm going with my favourite Cardiacs studio album which is one of my most played albums over the past decade, On Land and in the Sea.
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Nightingales and Bombers was the first prog album I bought, and I still love it. I vote for it even over Cardiacs here.

I was listening to Nightingales and Bombers yesterday after not having played it for a while, and it is superb, so it gets my vote.
Hark The Village Wait is also wonderful, and the Focus, Caravan and Colosseum albums are really good too.

Caravan is the only one from this list that I can say that I really like.  There are a couple of others that I have heard; many I have never heard.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

These were a few albums that I had not heard of or remember the names of (I have a good memory for this kind of thing and terrible for others), but this was totally unknown to me: Ved Buens Ende..... - Written in Waters

Much of what I had not heard of is found in PA's Experimental/Post Metal category (my favourite metal category) and Tech/Extreme Prog Metal. The Prog Metal team has been extremely active in adding bands, and I'm sure there are a huge number of excellent modern progressive metal bands to be added to PA... Not that we include ones, I hasten to add, because we find it good, not necessarily at least, although being really badly amateurish doesn't help the case, unless, some might say, you make kinds of avant prog and experimental rock. We add ones because they fit, but ones are more likely to be suggested that someone likes, of course. And that's why we are Prog Archives, not sh*t Archives.

I'm listening to VED BUENS ENDE now, another Norway one, they are so prolific, no wonder so much metal stuff gets added, and this is interesting.
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Much goodness there. I could vote for Manuel or Klaus, but I have to go with Cobham's fusion milestone Spectrum.

Hard to decide on so many excellent releases. Caravan-For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night takes it; followed by Billy Cobham-Spectrum ;Traffic- John Barleycorn; Capt. Beefheart and his Magic Band-Lick My Decals Off, Baby ; not forgetting the fabulous Soft Machine - Vol. 2 .

Happy that Manfred Mann's Earthband is doing well. I actually missed the Caravan album, that's another great one in this poll.

Cardiacs - On Land and in the Sea

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.
