Now here's something a little bit obscure. Gaya Muda Merdeka by Harry Sabar. It's surprisingly proggy, at least for someone associated with easy listening, cookie cutter ballads.

That's really cool. I can completely see that song being done by any of the great 70s keyboard prog bands.

Hm. I have a few, but...
Jane's Addiction -- All of side 2 of Ritual de lo Habitual It's kind of a suite almost, isn't it? It's not all connected themes, but the moods and musicality of that second side are so different from their funk metal stuff.

While The Sweet was famous for its glitter-rock sound, "Set Me Free" is a standout song that also features progressive rock elements. This song, which was included on their 1974 album "Sweet Fanny Adams," is more in line with the progressive rock genre because of its elaborate guitar work, dense song structures, and an experimental approach. The Sweet used a more nuanced and technically complex approach in "Set Me Free," departing from typical catchy glitter-rock from the first half to the mid-1970s. In contrast to their usual repertoire, the tune features prolonged instrumental parts, dynamic changes in speed and mood, and lyrical themes that explore more complex subjects. Indeed, "Set Me Free" could be considered a splendid heavy-progressive rock song that exemplifies The Sweet's adaptability and willingness to venture outside of their glitter-rock repertoire. |

1968 mellotron-driven song, In My First Mind, from the Steve
Miller Band debut album, Children of the Future, recorded in London and
produced by Glyn Johns, is actually one of the first progressive rock
songs ever. |

^ Thanks GuruCan , never heard of before and neither expected such a track by the band
It fits the 'It is never too late' category ![]() If it wasn’t the singing, we could imagine a song of a Moody Blues's lost album Edited by mellotronwave - December 08 2024 at 05:42 |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.
