What is it with drummers?   Spinal Tap was right, they drop like flies.

Thanks folks. I really appreciate it. It's even more sad now though since the Eagles just won and he was a huge football fan and Eagles fan but didn't get to see it (except maybe from above).

^ So sorry to hear that. Your uncle sounds like he was quite a character. Please accept my condolences. I hope that your aunt makes a full recovery and that your niece is okay.

Very sorry to hear this.

Thanks. Well, for the past two years or so he was pretty much out of it. He didn't talk much and just kept mostly to himself. Even without the accident it's unlikely he would have lived more than another year or two at the most. I don't think he listened to much music in a while. I did see the Alan Parsons Project with him (his second favorite and only other favorite band) back around 2010 or so.

I did some investigative work, and I'm happy to report that Rollie/Chicapah is still alive and well and living in Texas. He appears to be concentrating on his faith-based writing perhaps. You can try reaching him here at his Blog. Thumbs Up

Truly sad... he hadn't been too active in musical circles for a long while but the Soft Machine albums made under his leadership remain among the most fascinating and visionary opuses of the time
