With various topics, I'm just happy when i can find one thing I like. This came up in another recent topic (essexboy's for his 25th wedding anniversary) where I only really knew one reasonably well. Paul has been doing various ones where I know none, and others where I like lots. But commonly I find multiple things to like in others people's topics even if my major interests tend to be different, the list are reasonably eclectic, and I share 60s and 70s loves with the vast majority of forum members at PA.   Post 70s I am less likely to find convergences of interests with disparate people.

I think those topics where we present our own lists could often work better than polls (at least when it comes to trying to attract a wide audience), but my issue with that is that the lists often don't get commented on so there is less discussion and interaction in those kinds of topics commonly. I like the more interactive topics (more chance of connecting with people over interests, ideas, experiences, or just for joking around with others) . Whether I know and enjoy the choices or not, I enjoy seeing what others are into, I catalog that info in my silly brain, and then checking music out based on seeing it in other's lists.

I do quite rarely vote in my own polls, even if they, like this, were meant to appeal to a winder audience and specific members who may not enjoy my topics and interests generally, or just get annoyed by me (I know I annoy me) but here is my top five from this poll.

Realization should be there too, I added it to PA and wrote a five star review, but I have not listened to it in years. I do adore that Laurie Anderson album, first heard it in full in 1989 when visiting my bro in Australia. Wakhevitch is a favourite, but like Saperlipopette!, I have not listened to it in years. And I would have voted for his Docteur Faust (I let RYM choose the album for me as said). I also like Hot Rats. And I love the Bo Hansson. and I really like that Sylvian (wonderful) and I like Hendrix and love the Miroslav Vitous... And I like the Top... Voting for just five is an exercise in futility to me. More enthusiasm than "meh" for me, to reference Greg's post, but then I did make the poll so it's to be expected. Despite being depressive and often pessimistic, I am more of a "Yeah!" guy than a "meh" guy (at least vocally so in terms of how I like to interact with others). I like to see and express enthusiasm commonly, but negativity begets negativity, and I can be too negatively critical (I do believe in trying to keep an open, while sensible, mind about things generally and not to be easily dismissive, and to be careful about forming and expressing opinions on that which I don't know well). Realism over optimism or pessimism, though.
