A fave band, a cover by it, cover of it & original

I know that cover kinds of topics tend not to be very popular here. I can find covers really interesting and have posed here at PA the idea that some here might like cover material of a band where they are not into the band for certain reasons.

By the way, I tend to "google" search things, which might take me to Reddit or whatever, but this site can be useful for such things (one can look up both what a band covered and what others covered of that band, but it is more limited than I would like): https://www.whosampled.com/ And I hav used Second Hand Songs before https://secondhandsongs.com/ and searching youtube.

The idea is for the poster to choose a band or artist to "cover" so to speak. Choose a song/track that is not an original of that band (a cover) and mention the details. Also mention another band or artist that covered your band/artist of choice. Then choose a favourite track of your from the artist or band (an original). Here is another example (and I get to use Komeda, which is a favourite act of mine of the Stereolab, Broadcast, and vanishing Twin ilk to cover Can).

I'd rather we didn't just cover The Beatles (you might do that topic). I'd rather see a variety of favourites from a variety of people who choose a band or artist to highlight, list a cover by the band or artist being highlighted, list a cover of the band/artist being focused on by another band/artists, and an original by that band that one choose. It's not meant to be about quantity and not everyone likes The Beatles. And this topic is meant to have a specific format.

Still confused with the Stackridge reference, by the way (not a band I have been into or explored much). Quite often I make references, think people will get it, and end up having to explain.

Of course The Beatles has been covered hugely. As a child, the first cover song I remember hearing and loving was the Flying Lizards cover of "Money (That's What I want)". One of the acts I have been listening to a lot in recent years is Siouxsie and the Banshees, and they wonderfully covered the Beatles Dear Prudence -- click to hear -- and that put me in mind of Siouxsie... but I will do its cover of Kraftwerk instead.

i would rather we try to stick with that format (but two out of three of those per post is okay too). I thought someone might have have come in with Yes, Genesis or Rush by now. The fun for me is seeing and hearing stuff I might not know from others, how our favourites have been covered, how our favourites have covered others, and hearing about and hearing music special to us from our favourites. Sometimes I have thought that one might not like a band, but still like covers of it, or even covers by it... Those perhaps could be gateways into appreciating the music. And I have thought that recognising the appreciation that others acts have given acts by covering them is another way to factor in respect for artists. I like to recognise how significant a band or artist is to another artist, and a cover song can work like a great homage/ show of apprecaition (be it of a big name or a small name).

I was at my son's high school for a talent show last night and a different one with my son and others a few days ago and was really impressed with the breadth of talent. My son performed his own original compositions on piano (he is self-taught), one girl with a The Beatles tee-shirt and guitar played Radiohead's "Creep", one band played a post-punk song from the 80s, some played jazz on instruments and most of it was classical (lots of very good pianists there). One flute duet almost moved me to tears, and one person played one of the most avant-garde pieces I have heard on the clarinet (I might have though it was just his playing that made it sound avant-garde, but he is of a very high level of instrumental proficiency. He did a drum performance before, dude has serious jazz hands). And one person did his slam poetry. So glad to see the youth embracing music and the arts and such talent. I enjoyed being in youth orchestra (on trumpet).
