hmmmm neither is hugely important to me, though both are great
I enjoy Camel a bit more, but Rush has more quality output.
Rush is more important to prog music I believe, as Camel is more derivative.

Rush is one of the top 10 most important Prog bands, while as good as Camel is, can never be a top 10 important Prog band.

Both bands are superb, but Rush is much more important to me, for they were the first prog band I listened to.

And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I
don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime.
I never said I was frightened of dying.

I would say that Camel are more important to Prog, Most of their output is genuinely prog for a start!

I'd have to go with Rush, Geddy Lee was a big influence to me as far as music goes.

Camel, definitely.
I tried to get into Rush, I even own four of their best albums, but somehow they do not appeal to me.

I haven't listened much to CAMEL. Their "Moonmadness" is a five star album, but the other LP's from them I heard, were a bit of disappointment. I think RUSH is OK, and their releases from past to present are very good in overall guality, so I chose RUSH.

Two questions, for which I have two different answers. Rush are my favourite band, but their true prog output is less than half that of Camel. Basically I agree with Snowdog.

Yes two different questions and for me, its Camel for the first and Rush for the second.
I definitely prefer Camel, even if I have slightly more Rush albums (I think it's 8 to 7) ... but I do think that Rush add a different slant to prog ... there aren't many prog guitar-bass-drums trios I listen to ... in fact T2 is the only other one I can think of ...
