What are good prog albums which covers you find embarrassing? I start with an album by Hungarian band Omega titled Csillagok Útján. It's a very good space rock album. The cover though...

Shocked Are they about to be baptised? Married? Are they a band of angels, come down to earth to inspire and save us with their heavenly music? Or are they simply complete and utter twonks?

You gotta love that hair on the tall blonde guy, though -- very fetching! Now there would be an outfit to go out on the town in, eh Jimberly? Imagine all of the birds you'd pull!

And we thought Wakeman's cape was a bit over the top....ConfusedThose outfits would look silly even on women -- never mind grown men! LOL

Nowhere NEAR that  (Omega) ^ league, but this is one ugly cover, on a very good album:

And the disc included this as well (Westerberg in his alter-ego guise as "Grandpaboy"):

Dead LOL Nice photos, eh? (And yes, they ARE that blurry.)

Very good rock & roll, though!

One of my (many) problems with that Omega album cover is the gentleman (and I use the word advisedly) on the right bears something of a resemblance to a young Jimmy Page...

^ Indeed he does, Jim.Shocked

Now, I've always thought the cover for the otherwise excellent Yes Album was very plain/ugly (especially when you consider the great Roger Dean covers which would follow):

Ermm I can just imagine the scene: Wacko "Okay guys, we have twenty dollars left in the budget for the cover shoot. Let's do something really far out: first we'll buy a lid of grass, smoke some joints to get in the right mood, then put you in the corner with an empty chair. Next, I have this very cool styrofoam head that my wife keeps her wig on, so we'll just hang the head by a thread from the ceiling, pop a green lightbulb (just 99 cents at the head shop on the corner) into the socket and voila -- you're in the future man, on some way-out green planet with a green sun, where everyone is freakin green! COSMIC!" Cool

LOL

I think the guys on the left stole the vestments from a church.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I know this isn't an original choice, but what in the hades were they thinking?

They are photo-shopped in nicely...

I always thought this was the oddest album cover, almost as if Ringo went back in time while he was narrating Thomas the Tank Engine to coordinate their costumes

They are spacemen. "Csillagok útján" means "Along the stars". BTW, I witnessed their gig in Warsaw recently. I took some photos which you can see here. Did you know they are as old as the Stones? 47 years!! And they still ROCK!!

I've seen this cover a few times on the "And now..." thread so the band must be okay I guess. I just love the way the guys on the end have their hands on their hips - it kind of adds to what could have been a perfectly symmetrical image.

Perhaps Darksideof could incorporate this into one of his collages, along with Brotherhood of Man, the Nolans et al.

Call me cynical, but nothing I can think of could possibly beat this... not even Love Beach and Emerson's, erm, accoutrements.
It's not that I can't find worth in anything, it's just that I can't find worth in enough.
