I have The King is Dead and the Hazards of Love.

Love them both!

Please share your views on this great band, and make suggestions on which albums to get next

The Crane Wife for sure.  However, if you see Castaways and Cutouts, get that too- it's nearly as good (perhaps just as).

You cannot go wrong with The Crane Wife.  The suite that begins with The Island is the best thing they have ever done.
Can you tell me where we're headin'?

I started with Crane Wife. Wonderful album, the whole Crane Wife suite being another highlight alond with the Island.

Yup, 'The Crane Wife'.  Then 'The Tain' and then 'Castaways & Cutouts'.

And somewhere in there pick up their DVD 'A Practical handbook'.  After that you'll end up buying everything else in their catalog.

I've ordered The Crane Wife.

I never thought I'd like a folky band this much. Their formula is so natural, honest and emotional.

Definitely get The Crane Wife and Picaresque next.  Picaresque is their best album. More folky than the prog leanings of The Crane Wife and The Hazards of Love, but it is their most consistently great album, and features many of their best songs.

This band is awesome.  If you have the chance to see them live, do not pass it up.  Colin Meloy is one helluva entertaining frontman!
