Topic: Tull or Floyd? Posted: August 28 2012 at 23:10 |
Two absolutely different bands, beggining their careers in the end of sixties, both with a big commercial success even outside the Prog. Which is your favourite?

Tull no contest. The depth and range of Anderson's songwriter, the raw instrumental prowess of great musicians like Barrimore Barlowe and Martin Barre, the sense of humor, the folk influences, etc. Floyd is nice, but one dimensional by comparison.

Tull for me also. Ian Anderson is just a much better songwriter, performer and all round artist than Gilmour or Waters IMO.

Pink Floyd for me while I admire Jethro Tull, they just didn't connect with me like Pink Floyd did. People may say Anderson and Co. were better musicians, but really this is apples and oranges. Both bands couldn't be more different from each other.

I've only heard a couple of albums from each, but from what I've heard, Pink Floyd. Jethro Tull's folk influence is quite pleasant, but I prefer Pink Floyd's eerie atmosphere.

I can't believe I'm voting against Jethro Tull but Pink Floyd is... Pink Floyd.

Definitely Floyd, because they have more sensational albums (in my ever so humble taste). Still, in my top 10 there's definetely Tull: Stand Up is my fave. But my vote went to Floyd.

Both.
Both did absolutely brilliant stuff and some fairly forgettable stuff.
